I hope the Sox are not counting on Eloy or Robert to play again this year. I hope they can, but you cannot bank on it.

I think the best you can hope for is a return for Eloy after Labor Day as a DH only. He shouldn't even touch a mitt until Spring Training.

Les played Cody Decker ( MLB 8 games 0 hits 11 ab) B & R. The guys were hysterical. Decker called Tony "psychotic". Bernstein was silent. Leila said she wasn't prepared to go that far. Bernstein's Tony hate is all a NFL kneeling vendetta.

Like I said earlier in the thread, it seems pretty uneven. A batter is free to taunt the pitcher- excuse me, express joy- but God forbid a pitcher do the same.

Here's the problem as I see it. Sure, there are a lot of guys like Trevor Bauer who don't give a fuck and think, "Well, if I don't want him to do the Billionaire Strut around the bases I shouldn't give up the home run." But for every guy like Bauer there are going to be at least several who are pissed off by that. And some of them are going to throw the ball at a batter because of it. You may think that the pitcher is 100% wrong, but it's hard to square that kind of thinking with where we are as a society overall when it's a mainstream position to think that killing someone for using a racial slur is less of an offense than using the slur in the first place. So maybe MLB should just put a stop to the taunting or joy or whatever you want to call it.

It's uneven because the 8 guys backing up the pitcher on the field are also pirouetting, bat flipping hitters. What Trevor Bauer says isn't wrong, but it's also in his own best interest.

They can have it both ways and have the fielders join the pitcher for some NFL level TD choreography after strikeouts.

That would be awesome

I made my peace with my own mediocrity years ago. The accomplishments of board members are not really what I was referencing. Instead, the sense of grievance is what I really thought he nailed. It would not be particularly difficult to frame the Mercedes/Larussa situation in the societal debate of objectivism v. relativism.

Totally expected, but Christopher Russo with a blistering defence of TLR on his High Heat show.

Russo got right to the edge of saying that Mercedes wasn't raised properly. He used his own son as an example that he'd be furious if he had done that in a Little League game.

But that's what this comes down to. Unwritten rules are unwritten because there is a power to them. Does TLR give the take sign to Nick Madrigal there?

Yermin had pitched mop up before, and he was facing another fat catcher (but one with far better defensive skills). Let the two of them fight it out.

Next time Yermin is up late in a blowout facing a position player throwing pitches an 8yr old could hit, he should swing & miss intentionally on 3-0.
