I'm beginning to think this is all part of some masterplan.

Mercedes wasn't even hit. Bummer sucked the other night and gave up the tying HR and put the winning run on base. Yet here we are ignoring that, and debating white men and Tony LaRussa. Meanwhile, since the 1-3 start to the season, the Sox have won games at a .626 clip. And also since the opening series in Anaheim, the Sox have only last back to back games once.

Thanks to like 5 guys who are surprises.

As to your theory, is the master plan trading Mercedes at the deadline(July 30) when Eloy is due back?

Jimenez will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair the damage following this confirmation. There is some good news for the White Sox, in that the recovery period is expected to last around four-to-five months, which is slightly better than the initial five-to-six month timeframe. General manager Rick Hahn confirmed that his timeline to return remains five to six months.

Does a DH need 5 months?

I hope the Sox are not counting on Eloy or Robert to play again this year. I hope they can, but you cannot bank on it.

I think the best you can hope for is a return for Eloy after Labor Day as a DH only. He shouldn't even touch a mitt until Spring Training.

Based on what?

Either way like Frank said they better hide his glove from him the rest of this year.

Les played Cody Decker ( MLB 8 games 0 hits 11 ab) B & R. The guys were hysterical. Decker called Tony "psychotic". Bernstein was silent. Leila said she wasn't prepared to go that far. Bernstein's Tony hate is all a NFL kneeling vendetta.

Like I said earlier in the thread, it seems pretty uneven. A batter is free to taunt the pitcher- excuse me, express joy- but God forbid a pitcher do the same.

Here's the problem as I see it. Sure, there are a lot of guys like Trevor Bauer who don't give a fuck and think, "Well, if I don't want him to do the Billionaire Strut around the bases I shouldn't give up the home run." But for every guy like Bauer there are going to be at least several who are pissed off by that. And some of them are going to throw the ball at a batter because of it. You may think that the pitcher is 100% wrong, but it's hard to square that kind of thinking with where we are as a society overall when it's a mainstream position to think that killing someone for using a racial slur is less of an offense than using the slur in the first place. So maybe MLB should just put a stop to the taunting or joy or whatever you want to call it.

It's uneven because the 8 guys backing up the pitcher on the field are also pirouetting, bat flipping hitters. What Trevor Bauer says isn't wrong, but it's also in his own best interest.

They can have it both ways and have the fielders join the pitcher for some NFL level TD choreography after strikeouts.

 That would be awesome

I didn't realize he was hitless in his MLB career, but figures with that douche. When I heard him the other day with Bernstein, he was talking about how he learned to become a "better pinch hitter" later in his career when he changed his mentality. But now I have no idea what he was referring to...pinch hitting in the minors?

The sooner you bring him back the sooner he'll get injured again, you have to time it so he's ready for the playoffs but no sooner.

Sooner

Bobby Cox would be called racist and a no fun manager had the yanking Andruw Jones off the field episode happened today.

Complaining like that falls on many deaf ears when politics is dominated and enjoyed by owning the libs for the last four plus years now.

I don't defend larussa nor am I offended by society so I don't consider this reflecting me but Bernstein has spent the better part of the last 15 years spewing venom towards the middle class regardless of political affiliation.

It would not be particularly difficult to frame the Mercedes/Larussa situation in the societal debate of objectivism v. relativism.

Unfortunately, Tony has been an incoherent spokesman.

Totally expected, but Christopher Russo with a blistering defence of TLR on his High Heat show.

Russo got right to the edge of saying that Mercedes wasn't raised properly. He used his own son as an example that he'd be furious if he had done that in a Little League game.

But that's what this comes down to. Unwritten rules are unwritten because there is a power to them. Does TLR give the take sign to Nick Madrigal there?

Yermin had pitched mop up before, and he was facing another fat catcher (but one with far better defensive skills). Let the two of them fight it out.

There is a parallel here between managing and policing. TLR is acting like a demoted Sargent from Oak Lawn.

Next time Yermin is up late in a blowout facing a position player throwing pitches an 8yr old could hit, he should swing & miss intentionally on 3-0.

It’d make for an interesting experiment.

I thought I'd seen enough baseball to understand unwritten rules. I even agree with some of them. However, I was unaware the no swing one even existed. It doesn't make sense on any level if it does.
