Of course it’s a Jaguars thing. Florida, Meyer, team in need of fans = Tebow is no coincidence. Your statement might have had validity 7 or 8 years ago.

He isn't 33 in NFL years and half the league is looking for a move tight end. If it wasn't Jacksonville he'd get an invite from several teams. Jacksonville was the obvious choice but if Meyer wasn't there he'd be in camp with New England, Vegas, or San Francisco among others. He hasn't been on the couch since he left the league...I doubt he's lost any of his quickness and he has the traits.

So you think he has a great season at TE this year?

If he can still run and his coordinator can scheme him I can see him being a productive player. He's definitely worth bringing into camp.

It would be a cool story.

Be honest? That is my argument.

I think your disagreement with most of us is that you are conflating Tebow’s popularity to his religion only. There is more to it than that, as MANY have pointed out other Christian athletes that have failed to garner his popularity.

I think it is more of a “Q” rating, which can’t be quantified but is easy to recognize (like porn). Some athletes that have high Q ratings, regardless of religion include: MJ, Bird, Barkley, Pete Rose, Joe DiMaggio, Wayne Gretzky, Tiger Woods, A-Rod, Bo Jackson, Deone Sanders, etc.

Putting Tebow on that list is hilarious. It's like a "Name one that is not like the others" school question.

These jersey sales numbers show you don’t understand what a Q rating means. I was not saying Tebow was of the same caliber of athlete as those other names—simply, he is just as popular. The reasons transcend their on field statistics.

Tebow is not a better athlete than Fields, Brady, Mahommes etc. He is currently more popular though.

There are countless athletes that are very religious and very vocal about it. Tebow appeals to a different sect because no one buys there stuff and promotes them because of their faith. Getting your Tebow jersey is like wearing the WWJD bracelet or wearing your Faith + 1 concert shirt. He and Kaepernick are very similar in popularity, just amongst totally different groups of people....and 1 could actually play QB a little bit a long time ago.

...and that list....why are people buying Rodgers jerseys?

Well said. I think you made the point I was trying (and failing) to make more succinctly.

Brady? Come on.

Fields then a debate on #2 and then Brady.

Mahomes was a great pitcher and basketball player in high school. I would put him at the top of the list. Tom Terrific is an awful athlete.

Based solely on the current jersey sales.

Tebow isn't more popular than Brady or Mahomes. His jersey numbers are higher because he joined a new team. Fields jersey numbers are high because my family needed a new quarterback jersey.

That's like saying Charles Barkley is an awful athlete. Running fast is about 10% of what athletic does. Brady was drafted by the Expos.

So was Laurence Holmes.

I think he also needs to be part of the conversation.

Most stories are because of on field success. Maybe it's just Florida Gator fans though.

I'm trying to think of the worst athlete I ever saw in pro sports. Georghe Muresan comes to mind. But he was very handsome.

Yet Brady really was drafted.

LoHo was drafted in his own mind.

If I remember the story correctly, they were going to draft him but he preemptively took his name out so he could continue to tryout some more.
