I think it will take 92 games to win the division. That would require a 14-9 record down the stretch against strong competition.

That's the scary part. They need to take two of these Angels games at minimum, and then win 5 of the next seven against Toronto and Detroit. That puts them at 7. Then split NY, take 2 from KC on the road and you have 4 more (11 total). Now you need to win 3 out of 6 against Minnesota and Cleveland, with those Minnesota games being on the road and HUGE pivotal games.
I would say about a 50/50 shot of hitting that 92 win figure.

Sox and Twins could be tied after 162. Might be a play-in game that Monday before the playoffs.

Pretty soon they'll do a coin flip to decide who gets home field.

On the White Sox flagship SportsRadio 670, Brian "the Whipping Boy" is holding court...Twins 4, Blue Jays 4 Top 10th, and yet another blown save for Joe Nathan!

Twins lose 5-4 in 11 innings!!!

Nathon blows another save. I think this is the 3rd on their road trip.

Ya know, as bad as the Sox have played on their road trip, the Twins have to be kicking themselves more. Sox have been flat beat recently. Twins have blown some late leads recently.

Sox are up 1 game. I'll take it. Could have been much worse at this point.

They are surviving, and as bad as the Sox have been on the road this season, it was probably unrealistic to expect them to go on a run while on this trip. It would have been nice though considering the Twins have struggled pretty badly on their current trip.

Check out these next 7. Twins should really roll, playing at home in 6 of these games against bad teams. Meanwhile, the White Sox catch two good teams.

White Sox - Next 7 games (all at home):
vs Angels (3)
vs Blue Jays (4)

Twins - Next 7 games:
at Blue Jays (1)
vs Detroit (3)
vs KC (3)

Sox get Detroit next weekend, and KC on the next roadtrip. Sox, for whatever reason, look like a totally different team at home so they need to really heat up on this homestand. A 3 of 4, 2 of 3, and a sweep would be very nice.

They can't afford to lose 2 or 3 games this week ahead though. They really need to take 3 of 4 from Toronto, and 2 of 3 from the Angels. 5 out of 7 to keep the Twins at bay while they beat up on weaker teams.

I think if they go at least 6-4 on this homestand, they won't lose ground to the Twins. The Mariners and A's aren't exactly world beaters, and they took care of the Twins a few games which helped the Sox out, so maybe Detroit goes into the baggie and takes 2 of 3.

Beardown, a caller to Brian "the Whipping Boy's" show last night on 670 AM actually brought up the subject, and it would not surprise me if it came to fruition. I'm reasonably sure that a coin flip is forthcoming, although ESPN's Eric Young is probably the only one of the "Baseball Tonight" talking heads in Bristol, CT who still thinks that both the Twins & White Sox will make the postseason. Given how the Red Sox are doing these days, I'm not so sure both the Sox & Twins will get in...

Sox and Twins play eachother 3 games, then only have 3 left after that. I doubt there will be a sweep at the Metrodome, which means the Indians or Royals could play spoiler. Sure its possible, but I doubt it. I think Sox and Sox make the playoffs, Twins will be the odd team out.

Frank, the Red Sox lead on the Twins right now is 5 games in the American League Wildcard. The Yankees are, I believe, 7 1/2 out, but for all practical purposes, they're going to be watching the playoffs for the first time in many years on TV...

Good!

Also, I'm ALL for the Twins making the playoffs if it means the Red Sox are sitting on thier ass in October as well. Fuck both of those teams and cities.

Frank, I'm all for both the Twins & White Sox actually making the American League playoffs as well. I'm not so sure the folks at ESPN in Bristol, CT, TBS Sports in Atlanta & FOX Sports in Los Angeles would be thrilled in me typing this, but any postseason minus the Yankees & Red Sox would be more than OK with SHARK. I'm really sick & tired of Yankees this, Red Sox that, especially with the "Worldwide Leader in Sports" and its constant shoving of New York & Boston down our throat!

Wishful thinking, Albert. The Anaheim (NOT LOS ANGELES) Angels lead the American League West by 16 1/2 games over Texas, and are on the verge of officially clinching their division. It's the least kept secret in Allan H. Selig's Major League Baseball...

Shark, your response had nothing to do with what Albert Hofmann wrote. And he was being sarcastic anyway.

Are you reading your imaginary message board or something?

Great news, White Sox fans...The Blue Jays lead the Twins 4-0 in the bottom 8th at the Rogers Centre, eh? Jesse Litsch, the Toronto starter has shut the Twins out to this point with only 4 HITS!!! If the Jays do it again, the Sox lead will be a game and a half with Anaheim visiting U.S. Cellular Field starting tomorrow... :D :D
