It's spot on though. Thursday is our garbage day, so Wednesday night is when every one puts shit out. My neighbors on our court put a bunch of metal stuff like shelves, drawers and stuff out on the curb while I was getting our garbage ready myself. In the 10 minutes it took for us (the kids and I) to get all our trash, recycling, etc, out and in to our bins, there was a scrapper in his beat up Dodge Dakota, out picking up the neighbors stuff.

They literally circle our neighborhood Wednesday nights.

Have you watched the YouTube videos from the scrapper guys? They make some decent coin rolling around in front of the garbage trucks. I think it's the perfect example of a win/win situation. You want the stuff gone, and can afford new. You don't want to pay to have it removed, nor spend any more time getting rid of it or compiling a whole load. The scrap guys are willing to do a small amount of labor to get paid for recycling the stuff, and it doesn't end up in a landfill with trash, but melted down for another use!

I had a bit of an argument with my trash folks a few years ago. When all three kids were still home, we generated a good bit of trash. We recycle fervently, and I burn a lot of cardboard with farm trimmings, but some times would have more than a bin full of recycle every second week. So I have a second recycle bin of my own for the extra.

One morning I saw the garbage truck stop and dump the second recycle bin then move forward and dump the garbage bin, leaving the company recycle bin full. Their recycle truck came later and got that. When I called, the lady said I was only allowed one bin of recycle per period and the route driver was doing me a favor by taking the washed, separated recyclables to the landfill for me.It's not as if their recycle truck had to make a second trip, he was right there! Even if they only break even on recycling, ts still better than the landfill.

Now, I know better and can stockpile/fill only what is allowed each time, and with an empty nest, there is far less pressure on our trash pickup.

Incentivizing to not recycle. Lovely. I'd tell the lady "No problem. Don't be doing me an more "favors". Its easier to not recycle at all. ba bye now"

There was an old fridge in the alley of my husband's college house. Guys used to try to pee in it from the deck and balconies. I was walking past it one night and some girls were taking pictures in it. I was like ladies you don't want to do that.

We have a similar problem in that recycling is every other week. We aren't allowed to use secondary containers. Usually it's ok, but there have been a couple of times when I was working full time when I've had trips scheduled and missed the recycling day two times in a row. No way I'm going six weeks without tossing recycling, so into the regular garbage it went.

Nope. 60's. When you opened up the abandoned frig and found Lost Timmy's skeleton, it was a laugh riot.

60s cartoons were funny. 80s were great in a campy sort of way. Some would have those little messages and then we'd make fun of them.
