I listened to some of the Eddie Schwartz radio-thon and low an behold Mike calls in from Vegas and announces he was giving a $1000 to the cause. What a peice of crap. He was the only celebrity I heard that announced what he was giving. I know this will suprise no one here, Sad just sad.

BFD. That's like any of us giving $10. Northie probably already lost 5 times that at the craps table. (He'd play roulette, but the numbers go too high, and the whole even/odd thing is confusing.)

Yes you can, and yes they were. You'd thnk that WGN would have done something similar.

No offense to the cause, but I went out of my way not to turn to 670 tonight...

To be fair the guy from the bank which is handling the funds did announce that, in addition to that service, they were donating $1,500.00

WSCR is the only one doing anything on air (shame on YOU WGN!) but there are other radio & TV people doing side projects.

I'm not ripping on him for giving, just for announcing it. It was tasteless and I expect nothing less from North. I'm suprised he didn't donate some of his lousy CDs.

BD must stand for Big Dummy as Fred Sanford would say / its shameless self-promotion for a lousy radio show on a now-lousy station / its no different than the Mob giving money to the Church - should the Church take the Dirty Money?! (okay, bad analogy - Mike might get excited that I used 'North & Mob' in the same paragraph!)

I'm with you. He could just as easily done given nothing to a man he had no connection to.

The people who should be donating big bucks are Dahl, Meier and Mathews. Eddy provided them with unlimited content and in Mathews case made him some money.

Dahl did call in last night and from what he said, he is selling a cd on his site with all the proceeds going to Schwartz. So far I think he said they made $2200 or so.

That sounds eerily similar to "a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Save A Pet".

Steve should (and probably did) pay out of his own pocket for the source of entertainment that put so much money into his pocket.

good dolphin,

the big difference is that Dahl called in and stated that 100% of the CD sales would be going to Ed. Even Baum & Weber seemed surprised and joked that "this is probably the 1st time Dahl has donated 100% to anything" :-)
