I was skeptical at first about walking around the park throwing frisbees around, but after seeing some courses go up around town and wondering what it was all about i remembered a number of years ago my kids buying me a set of discs for Fathers Day. I found them out in the garage last fall and pulled them out. I have been playing regularly since then once or twice a week and it is actually pretty fun and more popular than I initially thought. Anyone else ever try it?

Based on my experiences at parks that have it, it's mostly an excuse for people to smoke marijuana cigarettes.

I like the hardcore guys who bring a satchel full of different weighted/sized frisbees like a golfer with different clubs.

Ive probably got 8-10 discs. Some of them definitely fly differently. I have played with guys who have carts full of discs, but the nuances between them is lost on me in most cases.

There was a big tourney at the Palatine course a few weeks ago. Those bros could sure sling it. I watched a bit while on a bike ride.

Yeah, they had a big one out here last weekend but it was too damn hot for me to go out there and check it out. Some of those guys can really throw - 300, 400, 500 feet.

Anyway, it is a fun way to kill an evening if you bring a small cooler and a 6-pack with a couple friends, hiking around the park. Its easy to learn but tough to get really good at.

There was a course in the park in my In-Laws hometown when they lived in MN, and we took the kids a few times. It was a fun, family thing, better than golfing.

The principal at my wife's school installed a course on the outskirts of the playground at school, even through the now-unused-softball diamond. It has been very popular with school kids and locals alike, from the traffic. I have not gone out, but assume it will be mosquito-infested as it is right along the creek.

More power to them, it has proven more popular than i thought.

I started this thread over a year ago and since then this game (note I didnt call it a “sport”) has really captured my attention. Many more new courses have been built around here with many tournaments and leagues with quite a local following. I’m just gonna throw it out here again, for anyone looking for a little competition or looking for something to get them back outdoors and moving around and getting a little exercise or just looking to have some fun, this game is for you with minimal investment of money. Heading out this morning to play 18 or maybe 36 holes and it is just beautiful out.
