I find diets too hard to maintain, so exercise is all I have until my body breaks down. It takes me a little longer to warm up, but I can still run at a really good pace (for any age) and I'm stronger than I've ever been even though I don't lift weights.

It def is tough to keep cutting out food and portions you’ve enjoyed your whole life.

Every time I’ve tweaked my diet it’s been for the betterment of my health tho.

I do miss soda, and eating pizza a few times a month.

I’d love to fuck up a bowl of ice cream, take some shots, and eat steak whenever I want too.

But I want to be around for my wife and daughter more.

What was your LDL level at if you don't mind me asking? I was at 161 a few months ago, total cholesterol at 201. Doctor mentioned statins. I said I have a feeling I can change it by next year eating more fish/salads/chicken and less steak/burgers/eggs.

My LDLs have been in the 160s since December, and I’ve been putting off the doctor’s recommendation of statins for 7 months now.

Last week my LDL lab results were 177, and the doctor straight up told me I’m putting you on statins.

My weight and Triglycerides keep going down, and BP is doing well with the prescription I have for it.

Just can’t get the cholesterol to balance out.


That's great that everything else is doing well. Did you make any diet changes over the 7 months to try and get the LDL number down?


I completely altered my diet in December, and thought the cholesterol was just going to take a few month to catch up.

Too much 70% dark chocolate, low sodium chips, shredded cheese, and beer are what’s hurting my cholesterol now.

Shouldn’t be too hard to regulate now.


High cholesterol runs on my dad's side. So while my LDL wasn't good at 161, the 201 overall total was alright (compared to family members, specifically my dad and sister who have been on statins for a really long time). I'm hoping diet changes and a little more exercise brings that LDL down. We will see, everyone is different.

Given that my breakfasts and lunches more often than not are Ensure drinks, water and some fruit, I'd be a lot lighter. I'm gonna try to increase how often I have breakfast and lunch

No. My sweet tooth is my problem too. In the past 10 years I have been as low as 158 and as high as 195 usually bouncing in the 180 range give or take 5. unfortunately Im taking bout an extra 10 right now. I think 165 is probably when Im at my healthiest at just shy of 6 foot but fuck that diet sucks.

I am fat. I gained weight during covid. I'm probably 30 pounds heavier than when anyone here last saw me. It will be okay. I might get on it here in the next month or so. I did lie on my last drivers license, the guy was real nice about it.
