I've actually heard that Underwood is the nicest guy in the world. He just looks like a red ass.

But, who knows. I don't know the guy.

I have no idea. I heard that from people who knew Mark Smith who transferred from Illinois. So I wouldn't doubt they are biased.

He's probably one of those guys who, on the court, will light you up for anything but, away from the court, rescues puppies and donates to a million charities when he isn't in church.

He's been a good hire. Finally out of the abyss. And he's not banging the bartender at the Tumble Inn like Bill Self. (Longstanding Piccadilly on Green towny manager rumor.)

I don't think he wants to showcase his talents. He wants to develop new talents.

That will take 2 years and a lot of growing pains for the program that allows it.

He's a force in the post. But, he'll be 22 when next season starts. He could be 23 and still in college with Shaq's body. I can't imagine an NBA team can't find a spot for that guy.

I know the league is all perimeter-based but I just don't believe a good NBA coach can't find a role for a 7-foot/300 lbs rock that is mobile, doesn't foul much, and takes up half the lane on defense.

I think Kofi thought he was ready for the NBA after this year and then got the reality that he was not going to be drafted. So he is trying to put himself in the best position for him to be an NBA player and sees Kentucky as that place. It is hard to argue their record of getting guys into the pros. But I dont see his game translating very well to Kentucky and I dont see them really being willing to invest the time to make him into one of their type of players. But it probably won't matter. With the Kentucky uniform on suddenly he will be considered a late first round early second round pick next year.

Kofi is announcing on Friday.

Probably still Kentucky but they do have a 5-star recruit transfer from WV that fills that same role as a wide-body post player.

You never know.

Smart move on his part (assuming he sticks with the Illini). They will be ranked and he will be a star with a chance to shine. Barring injury he will be a top 20 1st round pick.

Not at his age. Will have to play great to even be a high second round pick.

He’ll be 22 by the next draft. He’s got an NBA ready body with major conference bonafides and will likely be a 1st team all-American. He’ll go 1st round. If the Illini end up highly ranked he be top 20.

We’ll see. Last season he was overshadowed by an emerging star. This year he’ll be the man and will be a better player.

He will be 23 before he plays in the NBA.

He wants to show off his perimeter offensive game.

It might get ugly. But I want him back.

Embiid is still improving. He's 27. I'm not comping the two guys, I'm comping development.

I don’t have a problem with his declared age.

The NBA does.

I remember when college seniors were drafted regularly.

Because he’s going to start raining spot-up 3s down on people.

Being drafted isn't everything. Kofi has one more shot at it and if not, then there's this:

You’d condemn him to the hell that is working for Bill Simmons?!

Exactly. And the Illinois ranking has nothing to do with it. If he went to Kentucky or Duke he might sneak into the first round based on their history of NBA player.

He'll easily be a first round pick unless he inexplicably regresses.

I don't think it needs to. Just who he is physically likely puts him in the first round.

You can blame that game on coaching. If you think Greta Kuntzweiler can really handle Kofi, I don't know what to tell you.

Kentucky is "out" which means I put the odds of him going to Kentucky at about 60%. This is all just a negotiation anyways. Why put them in the top 3 and then put them out?
