I received a Jury Summons notice for August 2nd. I went to register online with the knowledge I am going to Denver for two Cubs games that week. After I logged on, there was an option for deferral. I requested it and gave my explanation that I would be out of town later that week. Less than one hour later, I had an email from them approving my deferral.

Thanks, I want to serve my country, but the flexibility is appreciated.

I just play them.

When Kane sends me one, I tell them I no longer live in Kane, and give them the address of the house in DuPage County. Never hear from them again for another 4 years until I vote again, then get another. Rinse, lather, repeat. :D

Got called twice in Kane. I should of nixed the first one as I was officially a resident of Lake at the time (I Think, I know I got my license for the Ridge apartment when I turned 21 and I can't imagine they called me for jury duty as a 20 year old. But maybe). The other time I was in Montana and within a week my folks got summons for me in Lake and Kane. Those were easier to get out of. I'm about due out here. Been called about every 18 months but never had to serve. Not a lot of potential jurors and not a lot of jury trials out here.

MANY people who consider themselves patriots (the non-lady kind) will do anything in their power to avoid participating in one of the most important aspects of our Great Republic. Very sick!

With liberal judges, biased jurors, lenient judgements, early prison releases, being on a jury isn't the honor it once was.

I served on a 1D murder trial. Never serving again. It was awful.

Last time I was in a jury pool the case was a doctor was suing a car repair shop for not getting a Bentley back fast enough. Frivolous you say? Plot twist. The doctor was a black lady so she was the one who was oppressed.

WfR wants repair shops to be able to hold your property forever. Very sad!

I only made it into the box that one time. Seemed like it was an assault case that happened outside a showing of the movie Rob Roy. At least I'm assuming that as all potential jurors before my dismissal were asked if they had seen the movie. I was dismissed by the prosecutor. I can only assume it was because of my age, my figidting/add, or he questioned my wisdom in not seeing Rob Roy.

I'd rather spend a week on a sequestered jury than watch this Cubs team twice.

I was summoned to be part of the Kendall County grand jury. There were 60 or so and they needed 20. I couldn’t do it due to me moving out of the country. Would have been interesting though.

Many years ago my wife was in a jury pool. She came home and told me she thought it was a death penalty case. I responded that there almost no chance of that. As always I was wrong. It was a guy already in Stateville for life that killed a guard. During initial questioning the prosecutor nearly made her cry and she wasn't picked. The guy ended up getting another life sentence. In other words he essentially got no penalty.

I was summoned the summer I spent working in Alaska, so that was easy to get out of. But I went over 25 years after that without being hit up.

I finally got called a few years ago, and had a very good experience. We were on an assault case and the young black defendant and I could not have had less in common. I found myself fighting for him, and eventually, swayed the others enough to find him not guilty. I think the system worked, and would be more than willing to serve again.

I am itching for some jury duty. Can I just show up at the courthouse like a day laborer?

I got called and selected back in 2008 for Lake County.
This 50-something crazy broad charged with DUI, Leaving an accident, and driving on a suspended license.
It was blatantly obvious she was a drunken POS, but based on the trial, evidence, and her very good lawyer no dui conviction nor leaving scene of the accident. The driving on suspended license was a no brainer conviction and her attorney didn't even try to fight that one.

Judge came in afterwards and apologized to us. This was her 6th dui charge and she was a total pro at the system, but he couldn't let us know that in order for her to get a fair trial. Doesn't matter.....while we were deliberating, they picked her up AGAIN for driving on a suspended license.

Just a complete piece of trash of a human being.
