After looking at that place I don't know how anyone can think Chicago's crime problems are driven in any part by a sub-culture problem, all I saw was people committing crimes only because they are poor and for no other possible reason.

the early 1930's public didn't appear too upset at dillinger's or bonnie & clyde's liquidations by the law.

there's something about keeping your nose clean, but also expecting everyone else - regardless of income, to follow the same rules you follow.

Talking about everyday working class, God fearing citizens. Not organized crime, gangsters, and hoodlums. Talking to old timers on both sides of my family about "The Great Depression". Immigrants from Europe who all worked, didn't want hand-outs, no criminals. All pitched in to keep the younger ones on the straight & narrow path. Everybody contributed positively to society. Strong role model non-absentee parents. Nobody felt sorry for themselves, blamed other people. They raised quality children into successful happy adults

And MANY who are drawn to and are the most involved in sanctimoniously clucking in these kinds of threads all too often seem to be the most miserable bastards on the face of the earth.
