no middle ground...no safety nets

I believe in this. It's not even a hope.

I'm not going to allow the Cutler/(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky excuses that the team around him needs to be better. Sure, the team might end up great but he will be an obviously great QB.

So, this is kind of it for me. I'm Neo. I'm Obi Wan. I'm Linus.

You seem to have trouble understanding the requirements for a baserunner to score on a sacrifice fly. Work on that first.

I won't need to with Eloy back hitting them over the wall rather than lazy flies to center

Caller Bob has so much White Sox on the brain, he's posting about them in the HOF Bears QB thread. Shameful.

I'm also aware he may be held up by Nagy from starting well into this year.

And here you are, following me thread to thread like a lap dog. Is there a vaccine for Caller Bob on The Brain? What about the variants?

I dont know why everyone got so immediately invested in this guy. He was the fourth quarterback off the board and played on a team that was significantly more talented than any of their Big 10 opposition yet still struggled against average Big 10 opponents. Specifically Justin Fields himself struggled. He looked like shit in both games, and I swear to god if somebody cites the stats against Indiana I'll lose it. He looked exactly like Dwayne Haskins did against Purdue a few years ago.

But then he shredded a Clemson team that was devastated by players not being able to play due to the virus. Trey Sermon pounded them for two hundred yards on the ground too, nobody remembers that though. The Clemson defense didn't show up at all that day.

Then he lost to Alabama.

Now he's on the Bears and his skill position players won't be Chris Olave and Jameson Williams lining up against the hapless defensive backs of the Michigan Wolverines. He won't have Trey Sermon back there anymore either, no Ohio States vastly superior offensive line.

He's got a lot of talent. Athleticism is high, he's good at hitting open receivers and I dont think he is otherwise some sort of r-tard. He seems to work hard despite what Dan Orlovsky reported.

But fact is it didn't translate. It translated statistically sure, anyone playing quarterback for Ohio State is going to rack up obscene numbers since its like playing on a semi-pro team against a conference mostly full of guys destined to work as car salesmen. He played on Baby Bama. But his play wasn't great, not what you'd expect.

So I dont know, prepare yourself for a giant dose of reality here because the whole Ohio State quarterback thing exists for a very good reason.

As soon as one is developed, you'll take that as well.

Doesn't need to be great to be better than the defensive fronts of Rutgers and Nebraska. They sure played well enough against Clemson for Trey Sermon to blow up for a couple hundred on the ground.

They sucked ass in pass protection. Many of game Fields was running for his life. You may have some other valid points, but no, the OSU oline was not that good.

I think he's tougher and smarter than Mitch or Jay, I think he'll be solid not great. A slightly better Winston.

Well yeah a doorknob is smarter than Mitch. I think Jay was pretty clever, just way too aggressive and impulsive.

I don't think Jay could read a D

Well for what its worth that concern was why Justin Fields was the fourth quarterback off the board instead of the second.

As I told Wilbur last week, I'll be jumping off of some building if Fields sucks and Love is great. I'm all in on the future HoFer, multiple Super Bowl winner (for the Bears) and arguably the greatest Bear in the history of the franchise. Yep, I'm claiming it all!

I’m optimistic. Fields is a different type of talent compared to anyone else we’ve seen play here. Cutler had great arm talent but couldn’t put it together after the snap, (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was a decent athlete but had an average arm and didn’t fit this system.. Fields has everything in spades. Arm talent, great athlete, calm under pressure, can perform on a big stage, and knows how to read defenses.

Shitty play calling and bad coaching are about the only things I’m worried about atm.

All in, but even then Walter still is probably #1. No shame in being #2 to Sweetness though!

You can drag every QB from Alabama for far less over the last decade.

But he also never lost a non playoff game as a starter either.

Right. I dont really trust those Alabama guys much either, but at least Alabama plays an SEC schedule.

If a QB for the Bears wins multiple superbowls and is a HOFer then he will surpass Sweetness as the greatest Bear of all time.

I know that you are all in too. You're just trying to publicly withhold your support because you are afraid to be letdown again. It's time to jump out of the cage and fly.

In charge of Fields development are Andy Reid's caddy and two guys who were previously fired by bad teams (Bengals and Jags) for being bad at their jobs...What could go wrong?

Just like Brady was. Because the Patriots coaches that left him proved worthless.
