Not encouraged by this Allan kid. Stay at home defenseman with zero offense and little upside.

Hawks also took a HUGE d-man in the 3rd round- Taige Harding, 6'6 235

I think 4th round, I pretty sure they didn't have a 3rd rder. They have been drafting a lot of Dmen, for an organization that can not develop them.

Well, a lot of Kirby Dach connections for the Hawks in this draft- they pick his brother and the Russian he collided with when he broke his wrist.

Traded their 2022 3rd rounder for a third rounder this year.

(670 The Score) The Blackhawks on Tuesday morning were finalizing a trade to acquire star goalie Marc-Andre Fleury from the Vegas Golden Knights, Emily Kaplan of ESPN reported.

Fleury’s addition would be a massive step toward competing at a higher level for the Blackhawks, as he’s the reigning Vezina Trophy winner as the NHL’s best goalie. Fleury, 36, had a 1.98 goals against average and .928 save percentage in 36 games last season. He’s a five-time All-Star with a .913 save percentage in his 17-year NHL career.

The deal is more or less a salary dump from Vegas’ perspective, as it won’t retain any of his $7-million salary through this upcoming season, Kaplan reported. In return, the Blackhawks will trade minor league forward Mikael Hakkarainen to the Golden Knights. He didn’t register a point in six games at AHL Rockford last season and had one point in six games for the ECHL Indy Fuel.

This is not a playoff team, so is the goal to be .500 or a tad under? I thought most of their cash was locked up in Jones?

They barely missed a playoff birth this year. If you get in with Towes and Flury you can get lucky and make a run. It’s hockey.

Bowman appears to be scrambling here to save his ass. Depth at Goalie. I'm sure that Seth Jones contract will be a night mare down the road, but team for the next 2 seasons is quite a bit better.

I still don't trust that Toews will be Toews or even 70% of $10 million a year Toews but as it stands now...they will make the playoffs next season. We'll see how much further they actually go.

Clearly they want to make the playoffs, keep the UC full most nights, and everything else is gravy. Just like with Dollar Bill before things completely went off the rails in the late 90s.

i'm with those who hope he retires.

i have to give him credit, he's done very well in recent years - i always felt he was like crawford, usually the 2nd best gk in every playoff series for the penguins. maybe the light came on, better coaching..maturity..he's gotten better with age, but not sure if he can keep it up on a weaker club, such as the blackhawks.

Why would someone want Seabrook?

The did it because TJ isnt very good anymore and his 5 mil per is now off the books. Stan is building one hell of a 7th place team. He isn't done yet. They only have 2.18 mil or so left in space. I expect Zadurov and Subban to be traded and hopefully deHaan as well.

He's trying to win the 2017 Stanley Cup Final.

Seriously though...this is beginning to smell like the Pulford era.

Yep, they got the third round pick that Calgary got from Toronto. Some guys on HFBoards are griping how all the Hawks got from the Saad trade is a third round pick. Well Saad is a FA...go sign him...

You always want a Punjabi on your hockey team

Quote:
The Blackhawks have agreed to terms with forward Jujhar Khaira on a two-year contract, the team announced Wednesday. His cap hit is $975,000.T

Khaira, 26, registered 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in 40 games this season for the Edmonton Oilers. He also scored one goal in four postseason contests.

Khaira is a physical forward who can play center or wing. He recorded a career-high 141 games this season and averaged 13:08 of ice time. He's expected to compete for a role on Chicago's bottom-six next season.

Khaira was drafted by the Oilers in the third round (No. 63 overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft. On Nov. 28, 2015, he became the third player of Punjabi descent to play in the NHL, joining Robin Bawa and Manny Malholtra.
