im with you, but in fairness, the red sox-rays series is pretty big. that deserves to be near the top. billy wagner hasnt pitched in 6 weeks, i wouldnt call that big news. a story about a manager keeping his job being a headline is retarded.

tom brady stories are making me laugh. it is such overkill. i will give it another day or 2 before it loses its humor to me and i truly get sick of it.

legitimate ok but 6 stories about Brady is not nessisary on the home page of a NATIONAL sports news agent. Last time i checked there were more teams that the Patriots and more quarterbacks than Tom Brady who they could write stories about.

Then again, ESPN is just a Boston sports channel.

yes...you're just now realizing this? They are what we thought they were...up till last week they were still talking about the Yankees full steam, even though they were out of the playoffs.

Brady is more or less one of the faces of the NFL. If this happened to Farve, it would be the same hoopla. Same thing of TO, Romo, OchoCinco, the Viking's AP, or LT went down. Those are all Marquee guys. While ESPN sucks on the teat that is Boston and New York, the AL East race and Brady going down are very big stories in the sports world.

As a Sox fan, I am a-ok with them flying under the ESPN radar, so to speak.

I think while ESPN is "The Worldwide Leader in Sports", they have gotten so overboard in shoving Yankees/Red Sox, steroid talk, Patriots & Brett Favre talk down our throats, it's ridiculous! If you think it's overkill right now, just wait until the MLB Playoffs begin and the guys in Bristol, CT are still talking about Derek Jeter this, Alex Rodriguez that, etc. and NOT focusing on the likelihood that Chicago with the White Sox & Cubs, plus Los Angeles with the Dodgers & Anaheim with the Angels will be where the Yanks won't come October...

If the Red Sox don't make the playoffs/world series, I guarantee ESPN will have a story about how low the ratings are/were for the World Series just so they can mention the Yankees and Red Sox and that the ratings would've been higher if they were playing.

That will also be TBS & FOX's problem as well when the MLB Playoffs begin...While we all can't stand the Red Sox & Yankees, the casual fan might not know or relate to the other guys that'll be playing. The non-baseball fan knows who Jeter, A-Rod & "Big Papi" David Ortiz are, but they might tune out if they see Uribe, O.C., Evan Longoria & Justin Morneau all still playing...

SHARK, agree with everything except steroid talk...they can talk about that more. Especially if that HGH pee test works out. Then maybe more masks come off.

   Seriously, CoF, before he left Bristol, CT a year ago, Dan Patrick devoted a great deal of his old ESPN Radio show to steroids...

Sporting News is in charge of hyping the west coast; espn the east coast.

Trust me, if the Cubs and White Sox make the World Series it'll probably be "Imagine how magical this could have been if the Cubs were able to play the Red Sox or Yankees!"

Again, I'll disagree. Tom Brady is a GREAT QB. Peyton Manning would have gotten the same level of coverage.

I always thought Fox Sports were the ones hyping the west coast...

I think you are correct about FOX Sports "hyping the West Coast". Not that it really matters, but Sporting News & FOX Sports, I believe, are actually partners. Within the last year or two, Sporting News Radio moved its offices, studios & headquarters from Northbrook to Los Angeles, and I believe that Sporting News also contributes some content to FOXsports.com.
