Beardown, we're seeing the demise of a ballplayer who was once the most complete player in Bud Selig's Major League Baseball...I hope the White Sox let Griffey go at the end of the season. It's very painful to see #17 struggle since returning to the American League...

Beardown, we may have seen the end of the White Sox season following this double disaster, and the likely end of Konerko's season with the sprained right knee.

Talk about letting the air out of the balloon. This has just been a 5 month tease.

Ok. They just showed Paulie on Comcast. He's confident it's just a sprain. They'll do an MRI just for piece of mind said Konerko. It could be a week or less.

See guys, I diagnosed it corectly. I thought it was a sprain. Like I said, I sprained my knee once. At the time I thought I blew out my ACL.

I think a baseball player can play with a slight sprain. Paulie plays first and doesn't have speed any way. It's his right knee. His plant leg at the plate. He can play through it after a couple of days of rest.

beardown, what do you expect him to say, "yeah I am pretty sure I blew it out." He is saying what everyone would say in that situation. I am waiting on the MRI.

No. But I could tell, in his voice, he's assured that's it's no more than a sprain. Look, when it comes back tomorrow that, indeed, it is a sprain I would like to give me credit, RFDC, for calling it right when he injured it. Give me credit for knowing it was only a sprain. Cuz that's what it is.

 no problem Dr. Beardown, you will get your credit.

I hope it isnt more, but many have thought it was just a sprain and it turns out worse.

My diagnosis reminds me of a line from a Pearl Jam song.

He was diagnosed...by some stupid fuck...Why go home?...Why go home?...

I'm the stupid fuck. But I think I'm right.

Things look very bad. I'm used to misery. Most of the years, as a Sox fan, I get kicked in the nuts during the regular season. I've only seen 4 division championships. I was a young kid in '83 and really don't remember that year. I just remember watching the playoff game cuz my Dad was excited. That's a memory I have.

But I have hope. I know hope is a dangerous thing. I fully expect the Sox to lose to Holliday tomorrow. I mean, even if we were healthy, I would expect us to lose to him.

So I won't be frustrated, tomorrow, if we are getting beat during the game. I'll just hope the Royals can beat the Twins and another day is taken off the schedule with the lead.

Now, if we win and the Twins lose it will be a great thrill.

Its too bad the Sox have 2 other DHs (Thome, Griffey-- who both suck right now btw), because Paulie may be able to just hit with a knee not at 100%, but not play the field.

If Konerko is lost for any more than say a week, with Quentin being down and the way this team has played for the past 2 weeks, it will be a small miracle if the Sox actually pull this thing out. Its looking like they only way they will is if they somehow, someway, pull a rabbit out of Ozzie's cap and sweep the Twins at the baggie in a couple weeks.

How many more players need to get hurt before Brian Anderson somehow finds his way into the lineup? Maybe 22, 23...never?

Stink and I have been in the 'Play Brian Anderson Camp' since day 1 of the season. Why he remains so low on Ozzie's depth chart I have no idea. This team craves solid defense right now, and between him and Dye in the outfield, not too many balls are gonna land in right center.

Everyone seems to think right now that Paul Konerko might be back this weekend when the Tigers visit "The Cell" with the initial MCL sprain in his right knee. I'm not so sure. I'm not holding my breath that Konerko will be available the rest of the way... If that's the case, Brian Anderson & DeWayne Wise might get extended playing time in left field with Ken Griffey Jr. playing almost exclusively in center with Nick Swisher at first. If the White Sox do indeed make it and hold off the Twins, I have long thoughts about a playoff roster that might have Joshua Fields as a reserve...

I'm pretty sure that Brian Anderson and Lance Broadway have done something to piss someone off. How Clayton Richard keeps getting the ball ahead of Broadway is just as beyond me as to why Griffey is allowed to hit .246 and butcher CF while Anderson is not allowed to hit .230 and play an excellent CF. I've had more than enough of the Dewayne Wise experience in the outfield.

This is the type of situation that will really define how good a manager Ozzie is. He has a team that has the opportunity to close the deal on the division, and is being given some pretty shitty challenges in the process. How he responds to this will determine how long he will stay in this city.

The Broadway deal is the one that really amazes me. He looked pretty good in his first start and yet they refuse to start him again. Give the kid the ball and put Richard in the pen.

Even though Lance Broadway pitched in the top 9th of last night's 8-2 bellyflop to the Jays, he might be on the spot to start Saturday's FOX Sports "Game of the Week" vs. the Tigers at "The Cell". I have seen enough of Clayton Richard, and I don't want him pitching in a meaningful game again! One other name being mentioned is someone named Aaron Pereda, I hope I spelled him name correctly...The only other name I've heard is possibly Javy Vazquez on three days' rest...

The lineup is in for tonight's game with DeWayne Wise batting 2nd tonight in left field, Alexei Ramirez batting 5th at second base, A.J. Pierzynski back in the lineup catching, but batting 6th, and Jerry Owens starts in center field batting 9th. Brian Anderson? Still on the bench! :(

I was right!!!!

Konerko's injury is a "mild sprain". There are 3 levels of MCL sprains. Grade 3 is the worst. Konerko has a Grade 1. He might only miss 2 or 3 games.

Like I said yesterday, I expect to lose this one.

But that's the beauty of baseball. We could win. Buehrle can match Halliday.

Plus, Halliday does have days where he gives up big runs. It's rare. But it has happened to him. Hopefully this is one of those days.

Ok. Like Hawk would say, "There you go Buehrle. There's your 2 runs."

Very likely Halliday shuts us out the rest of the way.

There's 2 more, Buerhle. Keep shutting 'em down.

Nice shot AJ

Anthony John has just doubled home 2 to give the White Sox a 4-0 lead vs. Roy Halladay in the bottom 6th!

Jerry Owens put down a squeeze bunt to add one more run and the White Sox lead 5-0 heading to the top 7th vs. Toronto...

Gotta give Ozzie credit in this one. Moving AJ down in the line up was huge. He got 3 RBI. Ozzie put the squeeze on.

Owens and Wise contributed today. Great game. Way to battle against Halliday who was hot as hell coming in.

Can't say enough about Buehrle too. If we get in the playoffs we can get some pitching.
