I think he needed every snap he could get in his move from RT to LT. He has now missed a week with a bad back and it is bleeding over into week 2.

I have too many memories of Bears OL with "minor back issues" so maybe I'm a gun shy

He's a good player but he should be on the right side. Pace sucks for allowing this to happen...part of his job is saving Nagy from himself.

Someone needs to make a chiropractor joke about Jenkins, then I'll chime in.

No worries at all with Elgton Jenkins at LT. Word out of camp is he's shutting down everything in front of him just as he did at the other OL spots.

Worry? Why?

Everybody in the NFL gets hurt.

If you have a good QB, you're good. If you have a bad QB, you're bad.

Yes, other positions matter, but that's the bottom line. Is your good QB healthy? If you have a bad QB it doesn't matter if everybody else is healthy. For a SB at least. You can scrape out some stupid wins. Bears are famous with stupid wins with a bad QB over the last few decades.

So I don't care who's healthy or not of 21 starters. Cuz every team faces this shit. I just want the QB to be healthy and good.

Seems that star QBs are kind of like superstar NBA guys, they get protected by the refs. You put a form tackle of a guy like Brady or Rodgers and you get a ruffing penalty, play a route perfectly and they throw an illegal contact flag, touch the WR on a deep route and you get a PI. Once you get the level that the league can put your name at the top of the marquee "Rodgers vs Brady", you get special treatment. So, having one of those top QB covers up a ton of roster inadequacies.

Is Dusty Dvorcik in camp for a week before injury rules him out for yet another season?

Aside from the Covid opt out year, apparently he had known back issues in college. Also rumored to have bad work ethic/habits.
Way to go, Ryan!

Thayer is super high on the 5th round pick, Larry Borom. Says he is great academically (learning the plays) and physically.

Typical Bears Shit.

Pace and Nagy haven’t changed at all. Pace still making painfully stupid decisions when it comes to personnel. Just throws shit at the wall hoping it sticks -no research, background awareness or anything like that. Fucksakes lol

He can never make 2 good moves in a row. He picks Fields (which I think was a good move) then follows it up with a trade up swing at an O-linemen he seemed to no nothing about outside of Mel Kiper saying he was still on the board 5 minutes earlier on the tv.

What a fucking clown show

GD, what are your thoughts on Alex Bars? Sounds like he is next up for the Left Tackle position of your beloved.

In the same interview I heard with Thayer where he praised Borom, his opinion was that Bars would be the choice at LT. He didn't think moving Whitehair over and messing with the interior would be smart.

This is all a bunch of BS.

Jenkins was thought to be a 1st round guy. Many experts had the bears taking him in the 1st round.

And then most raved about the Bears taking him in the 2nd. This is not like they went up to get Adam shaheen.

Obviously Jenkins being hurt right now is concerning but injuries happen to every player. It doesn’t mean that they did not have a plan or do their homework. With as much as he was linked to the bears it seems rather obvious they did work on him.

You have some valid points, but does Ryan Pace really get the benefit of the doubt at this point?

No, what’s a bunch of BS is drafting another pre-injured player. Everyone wanted to know why he slid, these things don’t happen on accident. I’m going to go ahead and assume many teams looked at this kid, saw the injury, saw that he missed his last few games and said ‘no thanks’. Pace? Already limited on future draft picks trades up to get him. Sorry, given his shit history with decision making for this team he’s not getting benefit of the doubt with me either, he hasn’t earned that.

The only argument anyone has here is risk Vs reward due to the kids potential and talent (which I’m not questioning).. but availability is the biggest asset a player can have. And right now? He isn’t available and this is looking like all risk.

Like I said after Fox left, like I said prior to the start of last season -this guy has not grown into the position of management he’s in. He hasn’t evolved. He’s still doing the same dumb shit. What more do you need to see?

I have no love for pace but this is not a situation where he found some no name guy to fall in love with, this is a guy that was thought highly of by just about everyone.

No, my judgement on this is coming from missed days in camp, him sliding in the draft, and him missing the end of his college season prior to the draft with what appears to be the same injury. My frustration with Pace stems from his history of poor choices in connection to situations like this and repeated behavior/habits in connection with situations like this.

Podcasted through some Bears content yesterday and heard Thayer talking up Borom at LT, this was of course before he went into concussion protocol, but Thayer actually said he would leave Borom at LT and move Jenkins to RT if/when he comes back.

It would seem both guys are missing essential reps and crucial pre-season dress rehearsals, likely leading to a backup guy starting. I'm sure other NFL teams are salivating at the opportunity to attack the Bears offensive line, wonder if Dalton will pull a Foles and start making some business decisions early in the year as realized a play Nagy has sent in has no chance in hell of working because there is no way the protection will hold up.

I heard this today too. He was really excited talking about him. Talked about how he punched Thieving Mack in the mouth. His view was that it would at worst make the Jenkins decision difficult. There won't be a Jenkins decision.
