Lot's of people hating on Nemesis. I'll admit it wasn't great, but i would rank it 2nd best of the TNG movies. Insurrection was like a bad episode from the series. It felt like a double episode storyline they passed on at some point during the 7 seasons, and decided to make a major motion picture about it instead. Just bad.

Nemesis was just an awful remake of The Wrath of Khan without any heart or cleverness to the story.

Shinzon was dumb.

They could've made a great Romulan film with Sela making an appearance and could've not done B4 and instead brought back Lore. Lore working with Sela and the Romulans would be a revenge plot that made sense.

Having Shinzon seek revenge against Picard who did nothing to him was dumb. Heck, the entire character was awful. How does he become leader of the Remans? Seriously, why did we even need the Remans? Aren't the diabolical Romulans with their Warbirds dangerous enough? I mean in the TV show we're led to believe that the Galaxy Class Enterprise D would be out gunned vs. a single Warbird.

Also, Data's death was just pointless. Spock's at least served a point.

In closing, fuck you Rick Berman, you lazy piece of shit who ruined the TNG movies.

All good points.

But still Nemesis > Insurrection.

Special effects wise, no doubt. At least Nemesis had some eye candy of a space battle, but as a Star Trek story, Insurrection is better. Granted, this is all relative as all of the TNG films outside of First Contact have aged poorly.

Insurrection is very flawed, but I found it a bit less offensive as a Trek story than Nemesis. I will say Insurrection was a major lost opportunity.

It's happening during the same timeline as the Dominion War so we should've instead had a great Dominion War story on the big screen. Heck, cross it over with DS9, which was in season 6/7. Sisko and Picard would be great together.

I don't understand a lot of the lack of crossover. You had a small amount in 1st contact. Wish they would of tried to integrate 7 of 9 in that one. The story in Insurrection made no sense. I would of done something with the Dominion War as well. Nemesis made no sense to introduce a new race.

Dr. Ken,
I think you need a tag to your podcasts. You know, something like 'dis:

Mike North has been called Chicago’s “original gangster” for his 25-year fight against the media and the “sports elite.” Now Mike brings the battle to his daily podcast, “Sticks and Stones,” exclusively from Podcast Arena!

Dr. Ken has been called Chicago’s “original finance gangster” for his 25-year fight against unreconciled accounts and the "banking elite." Now Dr. Ken brings the battle to his unscheduled podcast to fulfill his lifelong dream to record himself in his basement, “Chicago Fanatics Review,” exclusively from the cheapest provider!

Sure, I'm a fan. I usually listen from your link provided though.

After a rewatch, I think I can say without equivocation that All Good Things... is the greatest TNG movie that was ever made.

Just gave Star Trek Beyond a good solid watch, I'd probably slot it in around 9.

Better than TMP, Nemesis, Final Frontier, Insurrection, that's about it.

My usual complaint - wasting a great actor under face paste and killing 20 minutes of him not speaking English.

I do love watching Zoe Saldana, though. Some decent character stuff but the new movies are action sci-fi and not Star Trek movies. I suspect Discovery will be more of that.

I didn't mention in the podcast how great the score to the new movies is. The theme is great.

I was just watching ST: First Contact again recently. The one thing I thought that didn't ring true - and I think Alfre Woodard is one of the best parts of that movie - is her reaction to seeing the Earth from the dock like it was the most amazing thing she'd ever seen.

We are 40 years from the time of that scene and, while I would be surprised to learn I was in space, I wouldn't be shocked out of my mind like this was an impossible feat.

There are all kinds of people in space all the time, even before the Bezoses of the world.

The editing of the first battle scene in Khan was flawless. And Ricardo's expression when told his shields were dropping was priceless.

I agree that Into Darkness wasn't that good, but it had moments. I particularly liked Spock using the nerve pinch on Khan.
