Heard Howard Griffith with Carmen and Coppock on the 1st Bears pre/postgame AM 1000. What happened to McMichael?

That's a good question. I think "Mongo" has been doing a great deal of public appearances on behalf of ESPN Radio 1000, but I'm not 100% sure about his contract. I'm old enough to remember in its pre-ESPN Radio years, McMichael was a holdout with the Bears one year, and Chet Coppock's old radio show was the "radio show of record" when "Mongo" wanted more $$$$. His agent at the time, Larry Bales, was a frequent guest on "Coppock on Sports" every day McMichael wasn't at Platteville, WI back in the late '80s.

I know Mongo and his bride just had a kid in January. Maybe he is taking a bit of a break from everything.

if that is what it took to get him off the air, i wish they had started pumping out kids fast and furious a long time ago.

He's too busy recording his next read for some strip club. And laughing to act casual.

I think ESPN 1000 just let him go.

Taking a break? What? Cuz he had a kid?

He just worked at ESPN 1000 on Sunday mornings during Bears season. I don't think it was that taxing on him. Most people work with new borns. Most work 5 days a week with new borns.

Some go back to work in three days after "having a baby".

He seems to "disappear" for weeks at a time. He'll turn up at some strip club appearance soon enough.
