dark comedy about three different groups of guests at a luxury resort in Hawaii. It had a Fantasy Island vibe. Episode 1 peaked my interest but I do have to warn you that there is a 10 second close up shot of both the frank and the beans. It appears from teasers for the next episode that there will be additional shots of trouser snake. This is a disturbing trend in non network tv shows these days. Luckily it is balanced by Alexandra Daddario's breasts heaving out of a not properly fitted bikini.

Jennifer Coolidge is great as always, playing the straight woman in comedic situations.

I give this show 4 out of 5 gonads through episode 1.

Very good show so far. Just a bunch of extremely unlikeable people (with a few exceptions) working through some ridiculous moments.

Less dick than the OP suggested though.

I'm three episodes in and have loved it. It's pretty funny throughout, with typically understated comedic roles from Zahn and Coolidge.

Those two girls playing the teens are playing those roles perfectly. They really deserve some award consideration. The one complaint is that all these "teens" are obviously in their 20s. The young son appears to be written as about 16 and the actor is already prematurely balding.

I finished it last night. Great character development. There is not a lot of action, so much of the stuff is an understated look at human interaction and insecurities. But the resort manager ends up stealing the show. There are two scenes of his that are among the best in tv movie history.

I caught the 16 year old with male pattern balding. His sister and friend played their unlikable roles well. The dad really came out of his shell, and his baboon scene in bed was a top ten moment.

Still going through it but Shane is the product of really lazy writing, in my view. He's simply unbelievable as a douchebag, which is the role he's supposed to play through episode 3. There are things his wife is finding out him at the resort that would have been uncovered ages ago in any normal relationship. For that reason I don't find him or that story particularly compelling, though it seems like he's set up that way so his wife can have some sort of self-exploration thing. But, even so, it's shoddy writing and way too obvious.

The relationship is not well written.

He didn't care what she pursued. She could have continued down her path of authoring on line mediocrity. In fact, it would have been a bigger feather in his cap to have a wife who was a writer. It wasn't unreasonable to object to working hard on their honeymoon.

It was a very good show. I would have considered it great but I don't think the finale lived up to the rest of the show.

It would seem that the author was trying to make a statement about wealthy, white complacency by titling the story The White Lotus. However, he certainly gets more than enough digs in at the slacktivist class as well as the social justice warrior class. My readings of reviews of the show don't seem to understand that the writer undermined all the incoherent but lofty ideals Paula voiced.

I’ll play the devil’s advocate here since I need to stick with my board role as defender of the wealthy.

Stifler’a mom: She is in perpetual pain. Haunted by her dead mother and traveling without a single friend. Sure she meets an old guy and hooks up, but he is on his death bed. She is desperate and basically alone. No one wants to be around her but for this old guy who just needs to drop his load.


The couple: They got screwed out of their suite. The young marriage nearly died in the first week. He is clearly not happy with her as he is so easily distracted by perceived slights. The hotel staff hates him so much that they shit on his clothes. The wife has the world’s most annoying MIL. Their honeymoon sucked. And the husband killed a man…

The family: Their son runs away at the end. The daughter is full of jealousy. The dad finds out that his father died of AIDS and lived a double life. The mother has an entirely unappreciative family, and her husband cheats on her. When he is not cheating, the father turns into a bedroom baboon. The ocean steals the masturbating son’s electronic devices. The friend despises them so much that she gets her boyfriend to steal from them. The dad gets socked in the face. What a great vacation.


So sure these first world problems pale in comparison to a starving Afghan family. But things did not turn out so well for the rich folk.

Idk, the runaway kid was an annoying little goof they made sleep in a pantry. Doesn’t seem a huge loss.

And Pete from the Office’s punishment for murdering a guy was having Alexandra Daddario apologize to him for being insufficiently grateful.

In terms of the servant class, one lady was so overworked she gave birth in the lobby, one guy went to jail after being convinced to rob the family (by a rich-adjacent girl who faced no consequences for her role in the robbery) and another guy took a steak knife to the heart.

The masseuse got a few nice meals and a stack of cash. She did pretty well all things considered.

The Resort Manager and his boy toys were the only ones having any fun. Plus the kid with the bun hairdo has the cleanest ass on property.
