It might happen every so often, but most times you're going to be left saying "oh good grief".

Almost 40 pitches for hendriks and Sox survived, so I’ll take it.

Amazing outing by Cease. Offense getting 18 hits and 5 runs…seems like they’re still struggling aside from the abreu bomb in the first, but I’m chalking it up to dog days and a 10 game lead.

I guess you don't read The Fielding Bible.

I believe my eyes. He was horrible until the end of his Cubs stay. Then he did improve some.

Oh. You're an "eyes" guy.

Your opinion struck me as bizarre because it sounds like you were actually at a lot of games also. This is from his 2nd to last year with the Cubs talking about his OF play with the Cubs. The facts coming from the team concur with my statement. Are we talking about the same player? Do you have him mixed up with someone else?

My entire point is that your eyes see a guy take a bad route or do a weird hop- let alone make an error that costs your team a game- and you form a wrong opinion:

Quote:
No longer do we need to wonder whether Bobby Crosby's excellent work at turning the double play outweighs his poor range: last year, he was the best in the business at turning the double play, but his four GDP Runs Saved pale in comparison to his 10 Plus/Minus Runs Allowed. Conversely, Alfonso Soriano's underrated arm made him the most valuable defensive left fielder in the game: despite having saved just nine Plus/Minus runs over the past three years, his whopping 33 runs saved via his throwing arm puts his total of 42 runs saved well over the speedy Carl Crawford's three-year total of 22 (19 Plus/Minus, 3 arm).

Yeah you get that many hits and only allow two runs, your closer should not be in a save situation. But, they won. Hopefully the offense can stay hot.

Let's hope Giolito has his good stuff tonight as he did one year ago today when he threw his no-hitter.

Let's peer into our guts and honestly establish our confidence of getting through two AL teams to get to the WS.

My gut puts it at 10-20%. About the same as the 2000 team.

But since it's only August 25th, my gut says be patient.

Right now, 50-50 to win the ALDS. 25-75 to win the ALCS, 50-50 to win the WS.

Ask me again in 5 weeks.

This team has significantly better pitching than the 2000 team. It’s not even comparable. Jim Parque was the game one starter in 2000.

The only team I'm afraid of is the Yankees. That's a tough lineup to get through. Tampa Bay is doing it with smoke and mirrors. That patchwork bullpen game shit ain't gonna play in the postseason. I'll take Lynn and Giolito covering 18-21 outs and you try to cover the same number by mixing and matching a bunch of guys and we'll see what happens. The A's and Astros are doable. I hope Toronto doesn't get in though.

I don't want any part of the Yankees. The Sox seem incapable of keeping Judge and Stanton in the yard. Their success is going to depend on two things: the matchup and the relative dominance of their starting pitching. If that unit gets hot, they can easily win the World Series. If it's no better than good, I could see them getting past the ALDS if they get a favorable matchup, but that's it.

If the season ended today, I think they would draw the Astros. The Astros owned them this year. I would rather see the Rays, A's, or Boston.

This year it's a league of haves and have nots. All the haves are pretty damn good. No one is sneaking into the playoffs. Jays might be the best of the bunch and they probably won't make it.

The Sox are going to have to be at their best and most consistent.

Right now I'd rate the white sox 4th in the American league. Astros are better and a bad matchup. Lot of solid right handed pitchers and the lefty Valdez is tough. Yankees have a better lineup, Cole can match up with Lynn, Chapman is better than Hendricks. Tampa is close but still better. Underrated lineup in Tampa. Still think the Dodgers are the best overall team. Rest of NL is beatable.

All of this is fun to talk about, but give it time. The 2005 White Sox had a terrible August and it didn't seem like they would get past the Division series on August 25th.

Got a manager who's not all there, to be honest. Even Lance Lynn was puzzled.

sox are 2-4 against the astros but won the last two convincingly. Each team won its home series. I think home field advantage dictates who wins if they play each other

Tampa is the team that scares me the most, but I do agree the Yankees lineup could be troublesome.

Frank is right....I'm not going to throw in the towel yet. The playoffs start and we will see how they play. The starters are going to have to pitch deep in games and there will be little margin for error. If the lineup plays as they are capable....none of the AL teams want any part of facing the White Sox.

These dopes in Toronto lose their shit every time a ball is hit in the air. Even the normally perfect Benetti gives every pop fly the ‘uh oh’ treatment.

If some fucking Canadian asshole injured Eloy we should declare war.

They’re resource rich, full of morons who don’t know how to manage those resources and they’re preoccupied with the Kung Flu these days.

There are three year old children watching this game smart enough to know that Bummer should not have been facing the last two batters.

This bullpen sucks.
