I really think the Sox must sweep this series. It sucks to be in such a position but I don't feel good about any of the stops on the road trip.

I think the White Sox need to take care of business vs. the Tigers this weekend, even though the weather forecast for tonight & tomorrow aren't promising. This better be the last time I see Magglio Ordonez & that 1976 haircut of his! I know Detroit did the Sox a huge favor by taking 2 out of 3 at the Metrodome last weekend, but even without Konerko, they need momentum as they get ready for the biggest road trip of the season Monday at Yankee Stadium vs. a Yankees team that is thisclose to elimination. Speaking of "Mags" and that hair, he's the lovechild of NBC 5's Andy Avalos & John Travolta during his days as "Barbarino" on "Welcome Back, Kotter", when that show was on in '76...

I'm worried about rain. This whole series could be threatened. Then we lose the few days off we have to make these things up. They'll have to make every effort to play these games. Even if they have to continue or start these games at 1am. I don't even know if the Tigers off days coincide with ours.

Tigers just took 2 out of 3 from the Twins. They haven't packed it in. They want to play spoiler. Still, the 3 pitchers we face suck. We have to take 2 out of 3. Rogers and Verlander are having shitty years. Miner has a good record but the ERA isn't so great.

Twins get the Orioles starting tonight.

Tonights game better not get rained the fuck out. I dunno about Hoffy, but I cannot make an early game tommorow if there would be a double header.

Yep. They have to get these 3 games in however they can this weekend.

Sox only have one day off the rest of the year. September 22.

Tigers only have one day off the rest of the year. September 18.

The only other day they could make it up is the Monday before the playoffs. They'll have to do it if the division is still in question.

The White Sox do not have another day off until September 22nd, Frank, and needless to say, the umps will make every effort to get these games in this weekend. If they don't play a doubleheader tomorrow, it'll likely mean a stupid day-night doubleheader Sunday, with the second game on ESPN's "Sunday Night Baseball" & absolutely NO O.B. & Doug on the Sox flagship breaking down the Bears/Panthers as scheduled. That's if they don't play tonight in the just as stupid green pinstripe uniforms with green caps on "Halfway to St. Patrick's" night at "The Cell"...

The forecasts (weather.com anyway) for tonite keep calling for a chance of showers, but not a total washout. Looks like the overnight hours we're gonna get hit, and then most of the day tommorow. Worse comes to worse, doubleheader on Sunday.

Green uni's, white uni's, as long as the beer is cold and the Sox win I couldn't care less.

Gonna be hard to get this one in by the looks of the forecast. Moderate rain predicted from about 5pm thru midnight.

We're the ESPN Sunday night game. Kind of sucks if there is rain. If it's a scheduled 1pm start you can wait all day to play it. ESPN might be broadcasting a 3am game to the country.

The radar looks bad, but that light green stuff could just be ground clutter because its so damn humid out, or precip that is so light its not reaching the ground. From what weather.com's hour by hour forecast is, it looks like they will have a decent window of getting this game in. The chance of rain is in BOLD in the pasted forecast below. The first number is the temp, second is chance of rain, 3rd is dewpoint, and 4th is hudmidity.

Verlander and Danks also work pretty quickly, so that should help. Like Beardown said, weather looks iffy all weekend, so they will do what they can to get this one in tonite, even if that means playing in a light drizzle.

You gotta beat Verlander tonight. SOB has a 6.23 ERA since the all-star break. Plus the Sox have killed him even when he was good.

I think they've got to get at least 2 of these games vs. Verlander tonight & Kenny Rogers tomorrow. I wonder if Kenny will take out his frustration on a FOX Sports camera if the Sox beat him like a cheap suit tomorrow, weather permitting, just like he did when he was in Texas...I also wonder if we'll FINALLY SEE Brian Anderson in the starting lineup this weekend. I've seen enough of Ken Griffey Jr. & his declining bat!

I agree. Even shittier, you have to show up to get your hat.

On a good note, anyone actually from Ireland will feel right at home.

They need to take 2 out of 3 at the minimum, and hopefully the Twins will lose the series to Baltimore.

I think it's safe to say that we're not going to have a 4 or 5 game lead heading into that series against the Twins unless Minnesota goes on a 7 game losing streak.

In case anybody's wondering about the matchup at Camden Yards tonight in Baltimore, Daniel Cabrera (8-9 w/a 5.26 ERA) does the pitching for the O's while Scott Baker (8-4 w/a 3.66 ERA) goes to work for the Twins. Rain is in the forecast for tomorrow in Baltimore...

A client invited a couple of us at the office for the Saturday game with tickets for a diamond suite (i think that's the name). Forecast looks pretty good, only 90% chance of thunderstorms and 1-2" of rain.

Hopefully, you don't see the guy from the Miller High Life commercials trying to ask you about the score of the game & getting ignored...

I would think the Tigers would love to play spoiler in this series. Any chance they have Kenny's comments about the them posted somewhere in their clubhouse (how ironic though that Kenny was actually right - at least for this year).

Of course they want to play spoilers. But wanting to "play spoilers" and "Verlander sucks" are the two factors in todays game. "Verlander sucks" should over power "we want to spoil" for the Tigers. Sox should win cuz they also "want to win the division." Get what I'm saying?

Here is the formula:

(Sox wanting to win division) + (Verlander sucks) - (Tigers want to spoil) = Sox win

Karry Sayers said the Sox will start the game, in a moderate drizzle, on time.

No option. It's gonna be worse Saturday and Sunday. Have to get this one in for sure.

What the fuck? It was decided they would start it. Then the ump made them put the tarp back on at 7:10. Teams want to play.

It's not gonna get any better. It's not really that bad right now. it's a slight drizzle. What are you waiting for? It's not gonna get better. They can see it on the radar.

Who knows? Maybe cuz you're waiting now you might catch it worse latter. It's stupid. Get it in now while it's not bad.

Ya know, I don't know what these umps are discussing or waiting for? Either call it or play cuz nothing is gonna change. But it's gonna be the same tomorrow and Sunday. Probably worse.

There just standing there with their thumbs up their ass. Making people at the game wait when nothing is gonna change. Stupid umps.

Like I said, they allowed the pitchers to warm up and changed their minds 20 minutes later. They knew what the situation was and is gonna be. Dumb. Dumb. Right now the umps are just staring at the rain. Which, by the way, isn't that bad.

Anyone who can read radar could see there was no chance for this game to be played. Better to be safe, than get players injured trying to play on a wet field.
