While the Bears rank among the middle of the pack in wins since 1986, they’re 30th in passer rating. They haven’t produced a first-team All-Pro quarterback since Johnny Lujack in 1950, when Lujack threw four touchdowns and 21 interceptions.

FF with the scorching hot take that Bears QBs have largely been terrible over the last 50 years.

It's not really a take, that's just an objective truth. I just found the article amusing/interesting.

This article is proof that naked stats don't tell the whole story.
Erik Kramer is not #5.
Mitch (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is not higher than Erik Kramer.
Chris Chandler at #8 is a joke.
Kordell Stewart at #14 is a joke.

Shouldn't Jeff George also be on this list?

Why would George be on the list?

But also, they explained the criteria at the top.

Never actually played...just on the roster.

Right or wrong, I remember Jim Miller as much better than the article suggests.

He's a weird case...he wasn't good, but was able to make big plays because he had a big arm. I remember him most for having the best 4 game stretch of a Bears QB since Kramer...then getting busted for PED's and being suspended the last half of 99 or 2000. Then him getting hurt against Philly in the 01 playoffs. His TD/INT ratio wasn't very good, and neither was his comp %. But they were a really good running team at the time...as long as Anthony Thomas could hold onto the damn ball.

He's fondly remembered because he's built like a Grabowski. And he was mostly the starting QB of one of the successful teams of the really lost in the wilderness era.

Miller is remembered mostly for being destroyed by Hugh Douglas.

How is Henry Burris not the 83rd ranked QB besides the fact there havent been 83 QBs.

They’re counting McMahon and he’s not #1?

I assumed it was the post-McMahon list.

Dumb. GTFO.

That’s my recollection. Boyd makes some fine points, but I’ll always assume Bears win it all that year if not for the Douglas hit.

Not a subjective list. They had to go by the criteria laid out at the top.

Also, Jim McMahon basically sucked by all indications + what film is left from that ancient era.

The guy set like 77 NCAA passing records and essentially never lost a game as a starter.

They need better criteria.

Somehow I managed to block out the year Dave Krieg was with the Bears.

Man what an awful list.

Is there a team in the NFL that has a worse history with QBs?

Walter Payton was a better QB than probably half the guys on this list.

You can find plenty video on YouTube. The Bears offense was incredibly predictable under Ditka, have heard McMahon interviewed several times and he wanted to audible and pass more, the offense he played at while at BYU was more complex. Ditka wouldn't have it, the team won because of the defense, Ditka was not a great coach, he just inherited a once in a lifetime defensive roster which was able to do things you cannot do today.

McMahon himself will admit he never could stay healthy and played hurt often, remember reading about him being so out of shape during his rookie year that he could barely complete a basic conditioning test, so he didn't really prepare himself physically.

Bears are worse. Browns are pretty bad, but Bears are without peer when it comes to bad quarterbacking.

Just going by QBs I've seen. Question: one game to win and you have an average defense, who do you want behind center?

Cutler
Orton
Grossman
Griese
(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky

Most teams have a similar list, but SOME have that shinny trophy or 2 at the top.
