Cutler gets a bad rap because of his general attitude.

Based on natural talent? No one is close to Cutler. He is by far the most overrated quarterback in my lifetime. The offensive talent around him was the best we've seen in decades (maybe ever) and the defense was great for most of the time he was here? He only managed to get a .500 record, a worse TD/INT, and a worse QB rating than (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. He would not only disappear in big games, but he would end them in the 1st quarter with 3 to 5 picks. I hate Jay Cutler.

Any list that doesn't have Cutler in the top 5 is just wrong.

Grossman had like 7 games where he was great. McCown had a similar stretch.

Nothing would have changed Cutler's bad tendencies but it's untrue that the defenses were "mostly great" when he was here. Some of the worst defenses of the current millennium were on Cutler teams.

Based on record and statistics, (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was a better Bear. Either way, it is my list is Grossman is #1 based on his MVP start to the SB season.

A great example of why stats do not tell the whole story.

If Cutler had been the QB on that Super Bowl team instead of Grossman, they win running away.

Cutler gets bagged because he was a prick, but let's be fair, he had bad offensive lines and a new OC every year. Along with a disappearing cast of surrounding talent. That team that lost to Green Bay in the NFC Championship game would have won if Martz could have stopped himself from calling 7 step drops that got his QB murdered.

Mitch "got" the team to the playoffs in Nagy's year 1 on the strength of a good defense and some trickery. The Bears made a Super Bowl in spite of Rex Grossman.

Bears are worse. Browns are pretty bad, but Bears are without peer when it comes to bad quarterbacking.

Well, the Bears are 30th in Passer Rating since 1986, so there's obviously two teams that are in the running with them.

I'd say both are better than Rex Grossman.

Not going to deny that he was outplayed at times, still doesn't detract from the point that Cutler was the best QB on the Bears since 2000. For the dense out there (NME), that doesn't mean he's any good - just that our luck with QBs sucks. Cutler is the tallest midget, in other words.

Ic McCown played better as a Bear than Cutler did, how is Cutler the better Bears QB?

The sample size for McCown is small plus he excelled well in that specific system. No one is picking McCown over Cutler as a QB. You might and I'm not going to fight you because Cutler's not worth it, but in the grand scheme of things - across Bear teams and systems - you'd want Cutler over anyone else.

By this logic, Matt Flynn is the best QB in Packers history.

McCown has the best passer rating for a single season in Bears history. Can you point me to where Flynn holds that record for Green Bay?

Can you point me to any other Packer QB besides Flynn who has thrown for 6 TDs and nearly 500 yards in a single game?

Stats can say whatever. Especially when you opt to use a very small sample size.

I guess you guys don’t think interceptions are a big deal. I’ll disagree.

That was Thanksgiving Hangover Grossman. IRRC Cutler threw 6 interceptions in the first half of a game against the Packers. IRRC he has 4 times as many interceptions than touchdowns against the Packers.

Grossman put the Saints away in the NFC Championship with a HUGE play to Berrian in the 4th quarter. Cutler rode a bike because of a minor injury against the Packers. There is NOTHING in Cutler's time with the Bears that showed he could answer the bell in a big game.

Cutler started 12 games against the Packers, compared to Sexy Rexy's 4 starts against GB.
