I got the impression that Baez is taking the heat to cover for his buddy Lindor, who seems absolutely fucking miserable there even after he signed a $300M+ contract. I think Lindor gets traded by this time two years from now.

I don't see how Baez goes back there next year. The Cubs made out like bandits on that trade even if the prospect becomes an old style defense first #9 hitting CF. Simply saving two months of Baez' salary and letting him self destruct elsewhere will be a win.

Nobody will take that contract unless he starts hitting a lot better. It's Jason Heyward bad at the moment.

I do think he will improve and that he was hurt more than he let on earlier. If he bounces back to his 2019 level after the inevitable lockout, somebody will take 75% of the money on the contract in exchange for a Jake Burger / Miguel Amaya semi-prospect and a #4 starter.

Yesterday the Mets blew a 9-0 lead at Washington.

That's right, came back to tie it at 9. Luckily the Mets were able to take the lead again and hang on 11-9. Baez was 2-4 with a HR. That was the first game of a DH.

4-4 with a HR, and his OPS is finally pushing .800.

Finally got his AVG above .250 also.
