Been swimming 6x per week, started at 20 minutes and I could barely make it to the other end without needing a break. 3 weeks later and I'm up to a half hour and I just stop when I hit 2000 meters. Doing 200 meters at a time without taking a break now. The key is I had a lesson which fixed lots of flaws in my form. Also got a snorkel so I don't have to worry about turning my head and trying to breath which I was terrible at and usually ended up drinking a lot of water. With the snorkel I just keep my head down and go.

Dieting as well. Weighed in at 223 today, down 12 pounds from when I started. Only lost 1.5 pounds this week which is pretty typical for me. I always start out losing 10 pounds quick and then I have to bust my ass just to lose 1-2 pounds for the next two weeks and then I usually have a big 3-4 pound drop off the next week and then the cycle starts again.

yesterday I learned that the pool I swim at is 25 meters long, not 50 meters. So yea, gotta adjusts those totals for me by half lol. Here I was thinking I’m in there doing 2000 meters when really its 1000. But it’s all about time spent in the pool. Yesterday upped it to 40 minutes.

Two things:

1) Congrats, that’s way more time than I could handle in a pool. I think I’d be gassed after treading water for about 5 minutes.
2) I find it objectively hilarious you thought the pool was twice its actual size.

yea it's pretty funny. I just came off watching the Olympics so I just assumed every pool with laps in it was 50 meters. They have a swim team there and they have meets so I just assumed everything was regulation.

Plus I'm American and have no idea what a meter is.

woo hoo, lost a pound this week!

That pretty much sums up how difficult it is for me to lose weight. Swim 6x per week and a strict diet that I've stuck to for a month and all that results in an average of 1 pound per week once I get past the initial 10 pounds which always comes off really quickly.

last 21 days. Swam 6x per week, dieted and lost a grand total of .5 pounds.

Having the worst metabolism imaginable is a lot of fun.

You're building muscle and losing fat. Weight loss is irrelevant.

Hit the gym Friday and Saturday. Did a yard work project yesterday and was feeling it. I'll head back to the gym today. Determined to make this stick. I really want to try to get in there a few mornings a week but getting there at 4 or 4:30 in the morning is not the easiest. Might try tomorrow to get in there for some cardio and watch some SportsCenter. Goal is to lose 40 lbs

Rebounded with a good weigh in this week. Lost 2 pounds. Down to 14 total. I'm definitely the tortoise in this race.

continued to diet and swam every day and lost a whopping 0.2 pounds in the past 2 weeks.

I'm cutting out everything now and am going to start starving myself.

I've been working out at home and also the gym but it's only been a few days a week. Haven't made necessary changes to diet. I do enjoy getting back into it though, just realizing it is going to
take a much more serious approach to it for real results.

Same here. With school beginning, football officiating, coaching a sport at my school, rehearsals for two groups, I've not budgeted my time well. Ate proper this morning and good lunch packed...back at it today.

Down another pound in the past 3 weeks. Only 25 more to go lol. At this rate it will take me a couple years to reach my goal.

Quitting the health club today. Ever since they closed down the outdoor pool it has become virtually impossible to get a lane at the indoor pool. They have a reservation system and you can reserve a week in advance. Problem is it sells out faster than trying to get a concert ticket through ticketmaster in the 90s.

I've gone from swimming 6x per week to swimming once per week if I'm lucky.

All for the low low price of $180 per month. So I'm done.

Time to start looking for a different place to swim. Sucks cause Lifetime is 2 blocks from my office which was working out perfectly for me over the summer.

I got a buddy who lives in the loop and swims along the bike path in Lake Michigan by Oak Street. That shits crazy.

Had a very quiet Thanksgiving and determined to get down into the basement gym tonight to use the Smith machine and Total Gym. Was hitting Planet Fitness at a pretty good clip before I came down with bronchitis. Finally feel like I got that kicked even though it seems like there maybe some underlying after effects. Want to gain strength in arms and torso and also use the treadmill at least 3x a week over at Planet Fitness. I'd also like to work on some stretching/yoga as well to improve flexibility.

Wow 180 is steep - I didn't realize it was that high. They just raised my dues I'm at 120. I'm thinking of either seeing if I can contest it for the reasons you mention or quitting also. Sucks, it's a great gym I think I've been a member for close to 20 years.
