Those guys sound just a bit too old and out of date. Doug and OB was great because they were angry yet somehow still tuned in to the game. OB asking what Halas would think and then the Ditka shit just makes this hard to listen to. Just say Nagy is a gimmick OC and a horse shit coach and get on with it. I did like them laying Eddie Jackson down and then running him over and over and over again. It should be as no surprise that he has become his buddy HaHa Clinton Dix after playing with him for a year. Their career paths are mirror images. I didn't see Jalen Ramsey shy away from contact tonight. He was a fucking beast and he is a corner.

I turned it off at the Ditka stuff. The funny thing is that Ed wants a modern passing game. He really should have referenced Buddy Ryan there instead of Ditka. Because Ditka comes off as caricature white guy. Ryan was far more beloved by his defense, and if Jackson had done that in a game under Ryan, Duerson would have kicked him in the nuts in the end zone on national TV.

Hamp ruins it, because he says the same thing every week. He doesn't have any nuance the way Doug could.

Can't wait to hear Hub's uber upbeat opinion of the game.

What was the OB and Ditka stuff? I knew they had a falling out years ago. Aren't there kids married to each other? I thought maybe they had some reconciliation.

Too fucking bad. Dalton can collect his checks and be the #2, or take his release and go elsewhere. It really should be that simple, but the Bears seem to be a different kind of simple.

They gave Dalton a 1 year contract. That within itself is a promise of jack shit.

Agreed. He's guaranteed a $10 million payday, and that's it. I understand there may be some goodwill garnered for the Bears keeping their word, but on the flip side there could be just as many players thinking, "if they aren't going to play the best QB then fuck them I'll never play in Chicago."

Even in very limited action last night, its pretty clear Fields is ready to learn at the NFL level. A two headed approach might be fine for now, but he should be starting by week 4-5 no doubt.

And before yesterday I thought that a win over Cincinnati was a given. Uh oh, maybe not.

This team has a shot against the Lions, Jets, Jaguars, Packers, Texans, etc., of the world.

They ran right at Aaron Donald to incredible effect. Bad teams are going to have a bitch of a time dealing with the Bears run game. I'm thinking seven or so wins. Maybe even more if the defense improves at all.

Dunno about the Lions, they showed heart that I didn't expect yesterday. And got a kneecap or two in the process.

Can Andy Dalton even throw the ball past 10 yards down the field?

this defense is going to be terrible by the time Fields is ready to be great (if he will be)

but this year is a waste, so you have to wonder, why not bring him along slowly?

I think the Vikings are better than the Bears, which means chalk up a loss to the Bengals Sunday. This is a 5 win team.

The Bengals will drop 40 on this team with those WRs and Burrow.

Chase is a beast. This is absolutely correct. The only wildcard is a Burrow injury.

That was Boomer Esiason's take yesterday...until Fields is 100% sure of all the offensive formations/calls (which is known only by the coaching staff), he is at risk of getting ear-holed like the Jets QB did. However, he thinks that will be a quick learning curve and expects to see him starting in 2-4 weeks.

I really am not all that disheartened by this game. It went as I expected any road, prime time game for the past 30 or so years.

I also fully expect them to come out, play well and beat the Bengels for the home opener

How can you not be disheartened? The Bears should have lead at least 10-0 in the first quarter, the defense did almost nothing positive, and they have more OL injuries.

If anything, any optimism for a respectable record this season should rolled back greatly after that performance.

I think a number of players are done with Matt Nagy.

Marquise Goodwin's comments are quite telling. Calling out his head coach after one game with the team.

Where would you people rank the Bears loss in terms of disappointment in the division?

I'd say the Packers getting blown out on a neutral field is the worst, the Lions getting down big and losing a home opener second, the Vikings losing as road favorites to a not particularly good Bengals team as third and the Bears fourth.

The Bengals didn't put up 40 at home in their opener against a Viking d that is no better than what the bears are throwing out there and probably worse, especially with Barr out

The Bengals are starting Viking castoffs at CB and the Vikings were horrible at that position last year

A few things stood out.

First off, Nagy does not have confidence in his Oline to hold up long enough to throw downfield. Announcers were saying the Rams were daring the Bears to run the ball, Rams also had no confidence the Bears Oline would be able to run the ball, and more likely felt Nagy would not stick with the run.

The other thing was that Nagy was late getting plays in, even had to burn two timeouts, you could see him fumbling thought his Denny's Menu trying to figure out what play to call all game long. This has been an ongoing issue, leads to team getting to the line with less than 10 seconds on the play clock which severely limits the QB's ability to read the D and change the play/blocking scheme. Nagy simply is not up to the task of calling plays, cannot understand why there is not someone at the top of the organization that has not forced him to give up play calling. He really just wants to be the offensive coordinator and have nothing to do with the D or ST, and he sucks as an offensive coordinator, so what exactly is he bringing to the table for this organization?

That's been the popular theory (and might be correct), but how bad of a coach /playcaller do you have to be not to scheme AT LEAST A FEW max-protect plays to chuck the ball downfield to keep the defense honest (or maybe even hit on one or two of them). To go the entire game without going downfield once is a fireable offense.
