They are waiting to see what happens tonight. If the Packers lose then this division is wide open and the Bears can maybe take it with nine wins, keeping Nagy and Pace their jobs. If the Packers bounce back and look dominant then they will hope Fields looks like Russell Wilson by week twelve. Also saving their jobs (though maybe not Nagy's)

Dalton gives them the best chance at the former, while Fields will need game experience to accomplish the latter.

What a strange sequence of events. Nagy sure likes to make things hard on himself.

It's stupid from the Bears POV as well. You KNEW there were going to be all kinds of "who is your starting QB" type questions. You had MANY hours to come up with some sort of canned response.

All he has to say is yes he is my QB if healthy. But it leads people to think that they are considering going with Fields. And once people start to think that then the questions and stuff are really going to come.

In Nagys first season I had so much hope that he was a competent head coach, but that hope is just about finished now.

Yeah that first season he seemed to push the right buttons and say the right things. Even with Trestman early on they won, but there were question marks.

Fields clearly has a load of talent and is the QB of the future, but also doesn't appear to be ready to run 50-60+ plays per game right now. Letting him get used to the water rather than throwing him into the deep end appears to be the right choice IMO.

There were warning signs in the first season too. The Bears were just overwhelmingly talented so it didn't matter until the playoffs.

I'm not saying Nagy was perfect in '18, but he certainly didn't seem to put his foot in his mouth nearly every week like he has since.

Well I don't care what he says to the media. That's irrelevant, honestly.

What is relevant is the fact that he has been running the same plays for now his fourth season and they still don't work.

I care about both aspects. Obviously the play calling is the bigger concern, but if the man cannot answer simple questions in a coherent manner then he has no business being a head coach in the league.

It seems less strange if you assume - like I do - that Matt Nagy is a big dummy.

He's a good coordinator, he just shouldn't be in charge. Whenever he finally runs out of leash from the Bears he will go somewhere and I bet he'll thrive in that role. He might even thrive enough to get a head coaching gig again, and maybe he'll have learned a thing or two.

I'm done with him on the Bears though. Thoroughly over it.

Nagy?! A good coordinator?

I'm sure Nagy could be a good coordinator again, if he went to a team with a top 3 offense and a top 3 established QB.

Yeah, that’s a preposterous allegation right there lol

Even the team he spring boarded from didn’t let him call plays for the most part, Reid was the play caller outside of a handful of games.

Nagy is a worthless turd in serious need of a flushing -he’s starting to stink out loud

I don't really care about what Nagy says, but I do care about how he says it. He comes across as the clown more often than not.

I think this is true of MANY coaches/managers. They think their respective sport scheming acumen (which for Nagy might be greatly overstated) translates into being actually thoughtful and clever. It does not.

I think he seems like a guy who has the right personality to run a football team. Whenever they show the behind-the-scenes stuff I can understand why he’s been successful getting hired.

He just seems incapable of actually doing the job.

+1 His BE YOU bullshit is just him wanting to BE ANDY REID and it doesn't work unless.... you are ANDY REID!

Doesn't even know how to make half time adjustments. My guess is he has an Andy Reid numbered cheat sheet for halftime and picks a number for his second half offense.

He is in over his head and the whole league knows it.

Except he messed up that job as well. He called the offense that gave up the lead in the playoffs because he was trying to impress Reid with his offensive passing game knowledge and forgot to run the ball.

How do you get a bone bruise from the play that happened? There was no contact at all. His knee just buckled a little on the step.

Maybe the Bears and White Sox use the same training staff and he's been misdiagnosed.

IF it is really a bone bruise, and it was caused from that run, he's going to be gone at least 2 weeks.

He is.

Dalton’s knee looked like it was completely unstable when he planted on that left foot.
