Btw one other damning thing about nagy's playcalling = when we got the gift DPI to get 1st and goal THEY NEVER TRIED THROWING IT IN THE ENDZONE. montgomery run, then monty/fields run, then a checkdown/screen from monty got them to the 3. Nary a single attempt to look at a receiver in the endzone.

And again fields was 3/4 29yds 0TD 0INT at HT and he dinished 3/15 42yds to.ultimately have a line of 6/19 71yds 0 TD 0 INT.

It was truly a miracle he didnt throw an INT. or well, the one INT he threw was that weak DPI on a-rob where on 3rd snd long from the ~35-40 you effectively punted to the CLE 1yd lime, so.unless cairo santos was gonna try from ~57-60yds it technically was a really.smart place to try forcing an endzone jumpball cuz worst case scenario = your best case scenario if you dont try for a FG on 4th down.

The other possible INTs = diving lunges snd stuff.

The scary part = after "halftime adjustments" fields came out rattled and couldnt complete those lil easy passes he made look so easy from the preseason.up to.this afternoon. That and clearly the coaches got in his head about taking off and running (whether they outright told him to avoid running or he got the impression he has to do a better andy dalton impression than andy dalton does in order to 100% keep the QB1 gig) ergo he was holding.onto the ball too long, getting countless passes to WRs late and smothered in coverage.

The kid got rattled. He lost his cool and melted down in front of us and now i hope to god andy dalton doesnt come back for detroit, come in and get an easy win and then push justin that much further back like "we saw him and he was awful" and he has to stew on todays suckfest.

Part of development is responding to shitty games and with the easiest game of the season on deck AT LEAST give justin a chance to vindicate his performance today, and if he shits the bed again then OK houston we have a problem (fields and 2 1st round picks and two 3rds for deshaun? =)

Why does this asshole Nagy need to look at tape to figure out the why's of what happened? Shouldn't he be seeing this shit and adjusting it on the fly like say a professional football head coach should be doing? Why is Olsen better at this than Nagy?

I have no idea why early on when it was clear that montgomery wasnt gonna get you 5+ on 1st down.and they were going to.bull rush justin up.the middle to force him 3rd and long every time (bears 0/6 on 3rd down / 10.3ytg average on 3rd down) why oh why didnt you try rollouts bootlegs and screens? Cleveland took away your first down offense and put your QB in situations where you knew where he was gonna be (in the pocket) and they came and got him.to the tune of 9 sacks (the most since the giants played smear the queer with cutler on SNF/MNF and cutler left concussed by HR) -- GRANTED maybe 2-3 of those sacks were late/desperation scrambles that didnt cleae the LOS so those were technically sacks

I was really impressed by Fields today. He didn't turn the ball over and he made sure to keep both hands on the ball while he was being sacked.

I love how the answer is always "roll the QB out, do some bootlegs" Why can't Fields step up in the pocket and scramble for 15 yards every once a while? Isn't that's what's good about a mobile QB. He can improvise.

If our offense could have adapted and got a first half TD and had chances in the 2H this has been a winnable game, or at least the DEF played good enough to win until it got worn down after the hunt rush TD.

Nagy shouldn't call plays again

Nagy should be told to find his own flight home.

Because there is no pocket to begin with

So, isn't that a Pace problem, not a Nagy problem?

And what really sucks about our coaching/QB landscape/situation = after the 1H fields comes out in 2H wanting to.make every possible read to.make 100% correct football decisions that the coaches would sew when they watch the tape so he could show them "look.i'm not just jumping at the first open/ish read or quickly deciding to cut snd run, i'm processing the whole field like andy"

So then he's 2nd guessing his gut instincts and holding on to.the ball too long and getting it to short checkdowns late because he wanted to.make sure ro.make EVERY possible read and process the whole diekd... and while i never played dootball, i reckon the ability to do thT develops over time with experience cuz lime, shit, if he went with his first instinct more often i bet he has a much better showing than today. InsteD ge wants to.make sure dalton doesnt take hia gif whenge comes back so he has ro show he's a better andy dalton than andy dalton and it didnt work. Dalton xan just make those quixk 1 rwad checkdown/ish throws ASAP cuz ge aint gotta wkrry about none of thT ahit.

All in all, the coaches set up a situatiom where fiekds had to play outside of himself to try and take the job from QB1 and instwD if focusing on his strengths and doing wbat he can do right now he was hell bent on showing he can do everytbing dakton does + MOAR and then by the time he cycles thru EVERY read he's either throwing it 2-3 secs too.lsye ro a short checkdown route, getting sacked, or trying to desperateky scramble dor positive tards (cuz at least 3-4 of his "sacks" we r e him trying to run from a collapsed picket and gettint taken down b4 the LOS. Semantically speakimg thTs a sack but realisticalky its juat a run fkr -1-2yds

Yes, the shocking lack of depth and skill on the O-line is a Pace problem, but a high quality play caller can scheme around these issues to produce more than 50 yards of offense.

Also i think justin either took criticism to heart too much (i.e. missing an open jimmy graham when he tried for mooney in the endzone last week) or was overcoached to read the whole field all the time cuz all.those short little quick.first look / dink n dunk passes that a no fucks given dalton can make without worrying about the future of his NFL career get made, but it was like fields was desperate to show that he wasnt gonna pull a mitch and see that first guy looking open/ish and zeroing in on him ASAP without glancing elsewhere. And i can guarantee back @ OSU if he got a 7+ yd gain on a short run/throw there wasnt criticism like "if you held out for 3 more seconds and loomed at rhe other side of the field you had a guy open for 20+" so now hes making hurried bad inaccurate lage throws to.short receivers late enough for defenders to get all.over them

In short i blame over/coaching 75/25 on this because while its on fields to physically get the ball.moving upfield hes in a unique situation where he feels the pressure to.play perfect football to try and keep QB1 when dalton comes back (and announcing that dalton is QB1 when healthy = makes fields get that much.more desperate to change their minds ASAP)

so when dalton hikes the ball on 1st down and sees a short pass to the right open for ~5/+ right away he's confident enough to.just go with the easy small yardage to.keep the ball-n-chains moving whereas i bet you fields was thinking "if i.go with the no doubt 5yds right away coaches might look at tape and see that i didnt see an open WR streaking inside 15+yds downfield on the other side of the field so i gotta try to see every option available.

And again, never having played professional/football b4, i'd imagine if you have yourself to.always scan the whole field it takes longer than having a natural rhythm to do it wnen you're a 5yr vet in the league. And taking longer = bad desperation throws come 2-3 secs late to.receivers who are blanketed in coverage cuz you 2nd guessed your matural.instinct to just take easy yards that are there then work some PA/deep magic on 2nd and 4 or 3rd and 1, instwD of ending up with 10.3yds to.go on every 3rd down that you're 0/6 on. That means on all the bears drives up to that point they averaged going nowhere to slightly backyards on 1st and 2nd downs to end up averaging over 10yds to go on 3rd down.

I really hope nagy doesnt destroy fields cuz up until today he looked free n easy and comfortable to take what defenses give you ASAP on first down, but after the HT adjustments fields came out and went 3/15 42yds 0TD 0INT so clearly something changed at HT cuz in the first half even tho he had only 4 pass attempts he was still.justin fields on them. 2nd half = bizarro fields.

TLDR = #FireNagy
