after reading Larussa's latest assessment, I'm not sure Rodon will even be available for the playoffs.

There are rumors that Boras is insisting he not pitch.

If he has to sit for the playoffs how much is he worth? He had to be babied all season to make it to September. If they were in an actual playoff race he would have been a liability. Lopez was such a luxury and a pleasant surprise. He bailed them out repeatedly throughout the second half.

I agree. But I think Boras's position and sales pitch for next year would be that he went from seven innings in 2020 to 130 innings in 2021 and now he's back to being 100%.

I want Lynn optimized and Game 1 is not optimal for him. Game 3 may be just as critical as Game 1.

Lynn and Giolito give you the best chance of winning games 1 and 2. You really shouldn't be planning your rotation on the possibility of being down 0-2

I'm not. Giolito puts them in the best chance to win Game 1. Rodon has been better than Lynn as well, as long as he is healthy.

I would be more worried about Rodon's health than Lynn.

Rodon's stuff was awful last outing.

Was it though? Wasn't that the game where he got a lot of weak contact and they kept dropping the ball?

Velo down, slider was weak

If there is something wrong with Rodon, the staff will know it and he won't pitch....regardless of what Boras wants or doesn't want. Cease will get the start and that's the end of it.

Come FA....he'll get a contract based on being a good pitching that got hurt (again).

Didn't Boras already possibly cost the Nats a World Series by not letting Strasburg pitch?

2012? I think that situation is quite different. First of all, they lost in the NLDS....didn't even make it to the NLCS. Would he have helped? Absolutely, but man.....Strasburg was already a National phenom prior to that. Rodon isn't Strasburg. Also, Strasburg innings limitation was well set in advance.

If Rodon isn't healthy...he shouldn't be out there. Period. If he is healthy and Boras convinces him to sit out....it's going to limit his FA market value. Wouldn't surprise me and would be shitty, but it's Boras....no surprise.

This. Feels to me like he's done for the season. He may push to go but it won't end well.

I thought something may be up when Hahn talked about Kopech going 3 innings. It sure doesn't seem like Larussa thinks he is ready

That was very strange. I guess Rodon wants to project that he's fine to get a big payday, but it sure seems like he's not coming back given LaRussa's comments.

Kopech has been terrible for the last two months.

With Kopech, I think if he throws two more than five or six batters it's going to be early in the game. He is certainly not going to pitch 3 high-leverage Innings late game in a row like that. But if you start Lopez or Dallas and they get through the order one time, maybe Kopech comes in and pitches third fourth and fifth.

Giolito has to be the game 1 starter not just because of his 2nd half but because he owns Houston. He pitched against them in 2019 and shut them down. missed them in 2020 and then saw them once in 2021 while shutting them down. If the series goes deep, he gets 2 starts and you know Houston isn't touching him.

His 2019 domination against them was with the cheating going on in Houston at the time and they still couldn't get on top of him.

Rodon pitches tomorrow and how that goes determines what happens for the playoffs, but yeah he hasn't thrown this many innings in something like 5 years so he probably has some dead arm.

Rodon is competitive as hell. If he is cleared by the medical team and his arm can take it, he'll throw for the Sox in October.

stop worryin about playoff rotation.

You gotta home field advantage to fight for first.

You have 4 equal great starters without a clear ace. It could be anyone.

You play the rest of the season to win, and whoever falls next in line in the playoffs will get the fuckin ball.

Stop overanalyzing. This is a Frank Costanza disease.

With no fans.

I love Gio and his stuff is great, but mentally there are times I still worry about him.

$45 parking for playoff games
I love the White Sox, but this organization seems to love sticking it to the fans every chance they get. I'm sure concession prices will be jacked up as well.

Anyone going to the ALDS? I'll be in Sec 506 for Game 1, only about halfway up.

My son really wants to go. I'd rather watch from home...no desire to sit outside watching baseball in October. In 2013 I took my kids to a game Memorial day weekend...low 60's....it was not enjoyable.

The long range forecast looks pretty good. Highs in the 70s for the most part all the way through next week. Yes an evening game would be cooler, but it doesn't look like winter gear will be needed.

Not specific to raising the prices for playoffs, but parking has been a shit show all season. There have been games with 10,000 empty seats, but the prepaid lots are sold out multiple days before the game. Early in the season, they were accepting "drive-up" cash sales at the prepaid lots. A guy I work with has season tickets, and there were a couple times they got to games about 1/2 hour early (with a parking pass), but the lots were all full. They at least changed the policy to not allow "cash" sales in those lots.

Sox customer service person said that due to covid, there are fewer and fewer people arriving by train, bus, uber, etc. Everyone is driving themselves, and the stadium only has enough parking for everyone if there are 5 or 6 people in each car. No idea if that's true, but that's what they said.

They have been drawing very well since the AS break. Sox should anticipate these things and plan better. They rarely do.

I know Metra has cut down MANY of their schedules, but they had better add a couple extra trains for home playoff games. Run shuttle busses from McCormick 31st parking if need be. Also a PSA, Sox not allowing tailgating allowed in Lots C or D.

Fortunately I have a friend who lives off 31st & Sheilds so I can use his parking passes, and he'll be grilling some goodies out on the deck before we walk to the park.

what is purpose of them not allowing tailgating? Is it just a covid thing?

I think it's just a space thing, because tailgating is allowed in other lots. I don't tailgate, so usually park in C, and they have been jammimg the vehicles in with barely a drivable aisle in between.

Early in the season, yes it was a Covid thing because god forbid 8 people stand around a grill while outside. I didn't go early in the year, but I know MANY who did and they said they just ate and drank while sitting in their cars and unless someone was way out of hand, nobody said a word.

I've always maintained that the Sox should offer a tailgate free lot, with a bit of a discounted rate, for easier in and out. A family alcohol-free tailgating lot with a small baseball themed playground would be nice as well. But again though, the Sox rarely do things that make things easier for the fans.
