I think if Dalton starts, the Bears eke out a win. Nagy is probably praying Dalton will be able to go.

This Lions team is scrappy but this is a game that the Bears should win.

Nas....this has to be one of your more objective and reasonable Bears posts...I completely agree!

It's downhill from here during game week.

There is absolutely no reason to have any sort of confidence that Matt Nagy can put together a workable game plan, or that the team will score enough points to actually win a game.

Lions 16-9

Bears 20
Lions 18

Bears win on a Cairo Santos 50 yard field goal that bounces off both uprights and the cross bar, then goes in.

That about sums up the Lions season in a nutshell.

As an aside, I was in Grand Rapids on Sunday during the Lions game. They had it on at Founders. The joy I had out of watching the Lions fans go from happy to sad in about 6 seconds made the Bears colonoscopy palatable.

Since the season has already deteriorated into a Nagy death watch, does an ugly home loss to the Lions where the fans boo team off the field move Virginia any closer to pulling the trigger early? She then would have to pull the trigger on George because he was the only guy in the world that thought Pace/Nagy should be brought back.

I don't think they Bears lose at home to Detroit, but it's certainly possible. One would think a 1-3 start with a loss to the Lions at home would warrant an immediate house cleaning, but that's not how the Bears operate. They don't fire coaches until Solider field is blatantly overrun with opposing team jerseys....even then...it's done in the off season.

I was watching that game with my father in law (Lions fan). It was sad and delightful all at the same time.

I expected everyone to think the Lions were going to run away with this one because the mood around the Bears is so dismal. If that were the case a Bears victory would be assured, since we are nowhere near the nadir of this season's Bears play.

But the fact there is still so much confidence gives me a little pause. I think this thing is falling apart in a profound way and the quarterback situation is dire beyond belief, Justin Fields is basically Johnny Football back there. There is no limit to how bad it can get.

The Bears have 2 losses against very good teams.
The Lions are awful and the game is in Chicago. They'll likely get "out-clusterfucked" by the Lions resulting in a win. That's hardly an endorsement or optimistic view. This is likely the last Bears win prior to the bye. The Bears are falling apart but it's still early.

Fields has a brace on his throwing hand from Nagy's 4th and 10 play.

He probably intentionally smashed his hand with a hammer after last Sunday to get out until Nagy is fired

I think Nagy got essentially fired this week. He declined to comment on who was calling the plays, which means that Lazor is calling them.

But Nagy does better keeping up appearances because midseason firing is a major indignity. And the Bears do better with prospective candidates not having put a guy through that indignity. As long as everyone plays their part and doesn't go off the reservation this is a face saving move that makes the most of a losing situation.

I think Sean Desai has done a fairly commendable job so far this year...realistically, it's hard to run a defense when they're on the field 2/3-3/4 of the game. That said, I feel like this one goes the way of the Cincy game, and they jump out to a healthy lead, then can't run the ball and kill the clock.

Bears 21
Lions 18

***this is my actual feeling on this game. What I posted above was more for my own amusement yesterday, and yes, I know my score prediction is close to the jokey one. Whatever.

I think the Bears could go 1-16 and Nagy keeps his job until the end. Just don't think the Bears have the brains/energy to fire someone mid-season.

Teams are gonna continue to come after the Bears offense until they can protect enough to hit a few passes over 15 yards. The Bears D is still professional enough to stop the run. 17-6 Lions.

I wouldn't be shocked if what America posted above was true...I could see a world where Nagy is the figurehead to save face and Lazor and Desai are really in charge.

Not a big fan of teasers, but Green Bay, Tampa, and KC teased look like easy money.
