Did that edict come down from Pace, or McCaskey?

Probably Pace as this is his last chance to stay employed.

Probably. The Bears essentially paid Dalton $10M for 1 game.

What’s that famous Churchill quote?

You can always count on [Matt Nagy] to do the right thing once all other possibilities have been exhausted.

Getting better. They paid Glennon $45mil to start four games.

So Dalton is clearly not 100%...or...this came down from above him.

From what I saw, Dalton is right now the better option. I'd leave him as the starter until he gets hurt (again) which is likely, given the offensive line is shit.

Dalton will be the #2 so I think it is safe to say this came from the top. Maybe even from Mama Bear.

There's no way this was Nagy's call.

He spent enough time after the game on Sunday letting us all know that he was the head coach and that everything goes through him!

Well, almost everything.

Hopefully this was from above and the writing on the wall that Nagy is done after this year.

This did go through him. He was told to start Fields and then he told everyone else.

Agreed....this came from the top. I'm optimistic on Fields, but there's zero chance he's the best QB on the roster RIGHT NOW.

He's a better option than Foles.

Dalton may be more seasons, but Fields probably has more talent.

last I heard yesterday Raiders were favored by 5.5....I'm not setup to go the window for this or any other betting, but if I were....I'd take the Raiders and the points easily.

You might as well play him and see what he can do against good teams. If he keeps holding onto the ball way too long with the new play caller who are the fans going to blame then?

Nagy. No one would ever acknowledge that they may have been wrong about Fields being ready to play this early.

Just a couple of months ago the local and national media was blowing Nagy. "This was his pick!" Now, they are going out of their way to criticize him and trying to get him fired.

Well Nagy has shit the bed play calling so I cant blame anyone for lowering their opinion of his ability to development Fields based on how he has handled him this season to date

It does seem that someone at the top of the organization has talked to Pace/Nagy, can tell it from Nagy's odd post game presser where he rambled on and on, refusing to give Lazor any credit.

If you step back and take a look at Nagy you see a guy that was brought in as an offensive genius, but his offense has been bottom 10 every year and was dead last with him designing and calling plays this year. The team is only competitive when the D plays well, they would be winless this year without the turnovers in the Cincy and Detroit games. The team was last in the NFL in passing by a wide margin under Nagy, he was a complete and utter failure as an offensive coordinator.

You let a guy that has been launched in several places take over the offense and it looks at least like an NFL offense. There is really no reason to keep Nagy around, they know that and it seems someone is making sure he doesn't screw more things up for the rest of the year, a year which should give the next the organization a good look at Fields and see if he is developing into a franchise QB or if they need to spin the wheel again at the QB position.

Bringing back Pace and Nagy made little sense and now it's awkward because of that. Ted Phillips is the secret coach/GM.

I would bet it's more George than Sweaty Teddy, but we'll never know. Both Pace and Nagy should be gone, but something tells me it's only Nagy on the hot seat. Then again....both of their contracts have been kept secret in a vault so they could be tied together. It's also strange how they allow Pace to stay away from the media and only allow him minimal time to explain this clusterfuck of a roster.

I don't know if Fields gives them a better shot to win the next game or not. I do know that the process to get to Fields starting gives me even less confidence in Nagy than I had before. Maybe that was intentional on someone's part.

I've been the biggest critic of Nagy in Chicago for 3.5 years, but he's been absolutely right about Fields and the quarterback room. No one wants Fields to succeed more than him.
