I was in transit so I didn't see much football. What I did see is a second half play where the ball was snapped at least a second after the clock showed zero. I smiled and thought of the board.

Agreed. He's a huge step up from Ty Summers and Oren Burks and probably an upgrade from Barnes.

Looks like the Packers are trying to get reinforcements for Fields and Herbert

He's an old and washed up 26 years old. The Packers worst position over the last 10 years has been inside linebacker. Anyone that can breathe is an upgrade over Ty Summers. Campbell is good but he needs a partner out there.

Smith's fall was. He seemed to have recovered nicely from the knee injury and then poof, he's gone. Maybe it was the system

Maybe it was the 2022 salary guarantee.

Smith was set to make $9.2 million next season. That amount would become fully guaranteed if he were on the roster on March 20, 2022. But there’s a twist: Smith has an injury guarantee. That means if Smith cannot pass his physical leading up to the March 20 date, the Cowboys would have to pay the $9.2 million. Dallas decided it was worth it to eat the $7.2 million they owe Smith for this year now rather than risk him getting injured, which would cost them $9.2 million next season.

So he was playing at a Pro Bowl level and they cut him?

No idea if this is true or not, as I haven't watched him play. Yesterday I read that he wasn't fitting in the 4-3 defense the Cowboys went to in the offseason and is much more suited for the 3-4.

Did I write that? The Cowboys drafted a guy early in the 1st round and have some other cheaper options that they are high on. At that point salary considerations come into play. I'm not making any claims that Smith is going to rescue the defense, but linebacker is a major weakness that he will almost certainly improve at minimal cost. There's no reason not to be pleased with the signing.

OLB is a major problem as we have lost another one, Chauncey Rivers tore his ACL yesterday in practice on the 2nd to last play, non contact. Their numbers at OLB are really thin and I have to imagine they are looking over the practice squads of every team.

Rodgers throws a pick and he's bitching to the refs straight away

So you’re saying the refs don’t cater to him. Nice to see you’re willing to admit when you’re wrong.

Burrow down and out for now. It was a nice effort to try to get the 1st down but this is why they tell you to slide.

Edit: seems ok now.

Yep, always slide. That was a double shot to the head (player, then ground).

I like Albert and Vilma as announcers. I can’t remember the last time I thought that.

A missed extra point bites them in the ass. That and horrible play calling when they get to the red zone.

I’d also add the Packers never have all their timeouts at the end of a game and that inevitably makes things more difficult. It’s like they don’t value them at all.
