I didn't hear it live but ESPN 1000 is playing the Z interview as a promo.

Zambrano, impersontating Lou, in Spanish, was hilarious.

I laughed so hard when he did the Pinella, I felt embarrassed afterwards. That guy is one nutty motherfucker. Love me some Z.

Bah, for some reason I couldn't edit the above post, but I'll say this much: I grant that Zambrano is a somewhat uncomfortable interview, but he's not half as uncomfortable as any interview involving Cris Carter (if you caught Mike and Mike this morning, you know what I mean), and Carter has the benefit of English being his first language.

Had a morning at home and heard the Carter "interview". I agree it was absolutely brutal. It sounded like M&M considered hitting the dump button during the interminable silences during that chat.

Everything Z did at the end of the interview made up for the rough spots at the beginning.

Since I posted, I was thinking about this; I think they're both awkward interviews for the same reason: they both lack the critical inflection the interviewers rely upon to tell when one thought has been completed. Z, because he's not a native speaker; Carter, because he has poor communication skills.

I agree with you: there's generally a pay-off with Zambrano. There's no such payoff with Carter; he of course tries to rescue the interview with levity, but incredibly, these attempts virtually always fall flat and make the interview even more uncomfortable.

Cris Carter reminds me a bit of "You Know Who." He thinks he is better than any other WR to every play the game. He's a boob. I don't expect a good interview from someone whose second language is English. Like Waddle said, I bet he's a whole lot funnier and quick with responses when he's speaking Spanish.

True that, he's a great interview. But is it for his crazy antics or insider information and good thoughts?

I think both. Generally its because he'll say something outrageous, but you can't deny his baseball knowledge.
