What percentage of Americans are trans? Seems like we waste a lot of time discussing a portion of the population no one really cares about.

The LGBTQ community is probably larger than the black male population.

Cancel Blackhawksfan. This kind of bigotry will not be tolerated on the C/S/FMB

What is the LGBTQ community? If a girl made out with a friend in college is she bi-now? Trying to define that "community" is nearly impossible. And when it comes to political power it's not even close as to who has more. There are not gay Congress people for life who have districts where they could be under indictment in and still win by 40 percent.

It is a community made up of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people. I'm not sure how it is decided that someone is LGBTQ, and Idon't generally care. I'm fairly confident that the number of gay, lesbian and bisexual people are higher than what is reported. I wouldn't equate political power by what happens in a local election. Voters do things in some districts that wouldn't happen in most places in America. I'm confident that we've had a gay president, gay congressman and gay SC justice.

We've had many trans and gay posters before Caller Bob, too. We should recognize them with their own day

There have been gay politicians. Not many actively pushed for gay rights. Gays and trans are likely less than 8 percent of the population.

there's a lot of hyperbole in rating anything these days, and after watching "the closer", i see the same thing. "he's the best of all time." "no he actually sucks" etc.

the special was just fine to me. i appreciate his openness about what he's thinking and feeling. yeah he's pretty much ditched being a straight-up stand-up, but his conversational approach hasn't been terrible. chappelle is most likely an introvert in every day life, so this is as close as you can get to chumming with him at a public place.

he made some great points about #MeToo: "I left $50 on the bus." these women acting like they're big time crusaders while wearing thousand dollar matching black dresses to go to the oscars and golden globes is a total front. they wanted it both ways. he at least left the industry when he didn't want to play their game anymore.

he gave a great eulogy for that transgender comedian up-start/friend as well: daphne gorman. that name should stick out more than his jokes about the movement. and it won't. i've read a lot of reviews for this special and every one of them does exactly what chappelle was accusing the "alphabet crowd" of...they didn't listen to him at all. they just picked apart words and jokes to fit their narrative that he's a transphobic woman hater or whatever they want to slap on his back.

the thing is, if you're not going to pay attention to him anyway, then don't jump on his case like he's the giant ("clifford") that needs to be brought down. netflix isn't even that relevant anymore. the special became relevant because of the reviews scathing him, because of the supposed "transphobia". i don't think that was by design for him.

i don't think he's "punching down", just like these reviews about his show aren't punching down. but there's way too much punching coming from a group that consistently preaches "love and tolerance". and that's what he keeps exposing from them.

Fuck these people:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles ... re-release

Quote:
Netflix Inc. employees raised concerns about offensive material in Dave Chappelle’s new comedy special “The Closer” days before its release, warning executives that a series of jokes about gender-neutral pronouns and the genitalia of transgender people was potentially inflammatory and damaging.

The company’s leaders, including global head of TV Bela Bajaria and co-Chief Executive Officer Ted Sarandos, decided the show didn't cross the line, sparking Netflix’s most significant public labor dispute in recent memory. Employees have taken their grievances to internal forums and Twitter; at least three were suspended for crashing a meeting, then reinstated following outcry. Now the company is planning to host an internal event with trans activist Alok Vaid-Menon; meanwhile, employees are planning a walkout on Oct. 20.

I've watched about half. I don't think it crossed a line but he did linger on the subject. I assume he takes a lot of guff from the community and he's trying to work it out in his head whether he really is a problem. I don't think he intentionally hurts people

Watched the closer last night. Only made it about halfway. Was not offensive. It just wasn't funny.

It was a sermon on SJWs using the civil rights gains fought for with blood of black Americans and then climbing over the backs of those same people. Many times with disdain.

Finally watched last night. It was the same material as when I saw him perform in Vegas a month prior to shooting this special in Detroit.

2 things stood out to me. One, I think the crowd sucked. They weren’t as receptive to a good number of his jokes. The MLK/glory holes bit had me and 16,000 other people rolling at MGM.

Two, the people who want to cancel him didn’t watch the whole fucking thing.

When he said "Gender is a fact" it was over. It didn't matter anything else he said. That's something you can't say without getting a certain percentage of people to act like you've committed violence.

That's why many of the critiques of Chappelle have done the "Here is a list of people who have been killed who are transgender" like he was calling for that to happen.

that's the biggest problem with the "cancel culture" mentality. once you've stated the triggering point, nothing else is listened to. and i don't fault him at all for putting it like that.

that should've triggered them to listen in the first place, rather than tune him out.

This is true for everyone group in our country today. The liberals and the LGBTQ community aren't the only ones demanding that people who disagree with them get canceled. Every tribe demands that you support 100% of their views. We're living in the Purity E
Period. Hopefully, it ends soon.
