If you are referring to Lynn, he's not the best pitcher and a bad matchup. I think LaRussa likes the fact that Rodon is chomping at the bit. It's both a statistical and a gut decision. I like it.

I am speaking of what Dusty is doing. I am not sure what he is doing is abnormal.

Well, you're possibly costing your best pitcher a start in the ALCS if you needed it. If you can win tomorrow without him you have McCullers for Game 1.

Astros win tomorrow, McCullers goes game 2. And while he is the Astros ace, he is not an MLB ace. And on top of that, his splits are better on the road.

The decision is a no brainer.

Wsox have to be careful not to look ahead to Boston tomorrow.

You remember incorrectly.

Sutcliffe was an automatic win that year. He won the Cy Young in 4 months.

Gave the team a free shot in Game 4 knowing Game 5 was in the bag and setting up for Game 1 of the World Series.

Let the trolling begin. But that’s what happened….

Like I said, in this case I don't think it really matters. But if he goes in Game 2 he's going on short rest. I'm sure that's what they'll do. But I don't think it's a "no brainer". You avoid using him in this series and manage to win tomorrow, you have him on extra rest for Game 1, you go with him again in Game 4 and he isn't all beat up if you need him to give you some innings in a Game 7.

The odds aren't drastically different with McCullers replacing Urquidy as the starter. Sox still a slight favorite albeit just a little more slight.

The Sox don't have the luxury of looking ahead to anything right now.

Sox beat McCullers, and they win the series. The game getting canceled today was a blow. Baseball has all the stats now, but it still a psychological battle of wills. The Sox broke the Astros on Sunday, and the crowd was a factor. No idea how it plays out, but I think if McCullers goes that's the game that decides the series.

That's the other problem with using him tomorrow. If the Sox win that game, it's completely demoralizing for Houston.

I feel like every win in a 5 games series leads to the perception of a massive swing in momentum. People would say the Sox are the favorites in game 5 no matter who they beat tomorrow. The fact Dusty is in the other dug out is why I haven't worried about my Sox wagers.

So the Sox broke a team that’s been in the playoffs umpteen times over the last few years , won a WS?
One loss did that ?

I can't believe a long time guy just said that. I have little doubt Houston will be ready for game 5. Will the White Sox?...is a better question.

Surprised they are doing that for game 4 when it would be much easier to cheat with your best pitcher at home. It leads me to believe that the Astros strongly believe they can cheat well in Comiskey Park.

As I stated - on Sunday. Every game is a new one.

Houston was up 5-1, and wearing out pitchers with great stuff. After the Sox came back Houston look demoralized and wasn't having the same type of at bats that they were throughout the series.

Whatever team he talks to with is going to have at least two or three different doctors/surgeons look at that shoulder of his before an offer is made.

wfr is goofy with his words here, but I agree with his overall premise. I think Houston's chance to win the series is today. If this goes to a 5th game, the Sox are gonna win it. I could be wrong, but thats how I feel about it.

I don't know what happened in Game 1 at Houston, but game 3....Sox hitters showed some patience and worked the pitching.

They have to do that against McCullers....they have to get Dusty uncomfortable and reaching for the bullpen early.

The numbers do support Dusty's decision to start McCullers game 4 and try to close this out. I don't think it has anything to do with looking ahead. I personally would trust the next starter and save my best for game 5 at home, where the Sox struggled, but I'm not managing. It's also not to say Tony doesn't fuck this up, either. He didn't manage games 1 and 2 particularly well.

Just wait and see, I guess. If it goes to game 5....wouldn't Framber Valdez be the starter? He gave up 4 ER and 4.1 innings in game 2. That's a much more attractive option for the Sox than having to see McCullers. Dusty gonna look pretty foolish if McCullers in game 4 doesn't work out.
