Not for nothing Tucker had a .917 OPS during the regular season which was good for 3rd in the American League. Kid is a legitimate superstar at this point and nobody really knows about him.

He batted no higher than 6th in the series. The Astros lineup is a meat grinder. It's a tough lineup for anyone to get through much less if you have a beat up pitching staff.

I agree with that. Tucker is a stud.

Right. The Sox hit a ton of singles. I already said that production wasn't good enough.

That’s where guys like Jimenez and Abreu were so disappointing. Zero extra base hits from power guys doesn’t help the cause.

He’s definitely a star.

The Astros lineup also seems to take & foul off borderline pitches far, far better than just about anybody on the Sox. 90% of the reason I like Grandal is that it often seems like he’s the only guy in the lineup that makes the pitcher work during an AB. Everybody on the Stros (aside from Maldonado) seems to have that ability.

Abreu was fucking awful the year before as well. The team hit into about as many double plays as they had extra base hits. Far too many groundballs that the Astros were positions to field.

This is highly accurate. Sox plate discipline was awful the entire series. It's exactly how you work to get to the bullpen.

The Sox have a lot of work to do if they want to win more than their division and go further in the playoffs.

Yes, the Astros have a lot of guys who are difficult to strike out. The Sox don't.

This is why giving away Madrigal for negative production hurts so much.

Sounds like we are sticking with the "The Astros are just really good" line of thinking.

Hopefully the Sox improve in the offseason.

The ESPN radio broadcast was gushing about Tucker all series. I had never heard of him.

Talk about dodging a bullet by not signing Aiken, they got the comp pick and then both Bergman and Tucker the next draft. I see no reason whatsoever to take a high school arm in the first round, at least not top 10.

They also seemed to have the attitude of, "hey this [insert Sox SP name here] guy is nibbling and isn't going right after guys, so I'll take my base if need be." And it worked.

Cubbie Nation, please pick which of the above you are actually going with.
