Now that their division lead is 8 and the magic number is down to 6, I am breathing a little easier. I do not expect a sweep, unless the Brewers have literally quit on management. I do expect at least two out of three, but even winning only one game brings the MN down to 4 and their lead would still be 7.

Dempster looking good tonight, just got a big double play after fumbling a bunt.

Nice to see them hitting CC good.

Well, if melvin thought firing Yost was a quick fix, it sure doesnt look it tonight. Lots of strikeouts, CC is getting hit around and the first base coach just got ejected.

Wow. Almost lets a homer up to Sabathia. That would have sucked. Lets hope Cotts can get out of the inning.

Soriano curtain call when no one asked for it. Embarrasing!

Wow that was quite a battle with Fielder and Wood, and one nasty breaking ball to catch him looking. You know he had to be expecting the gas. Good job!

2 games vs. CC and we won both games and gave him his first loss as a Brewer!

Wood needs to start having better outings. I can't remember the last scoreless inning he had.

That all depends on tomorrow IMO, with Marquis going against Sheets. If we can win tomorrow then I think they clinch it Thursday.

Yeah it wasn't a perfect outing for Wood, but damn if that last pitch to Fielder wasn't vintage 1998 vs. Houston nasty.

fielder and braun seem like 2 genuinely not-likable guys. fielder has that scowl on his face 100% of the time, even when he does something good. it makes me want to see him fail more and more. i cant put my finger on what i dislike so much about braun, other than he is a big-time poser at the plate, even more than the average guy. ramirez and soriano pose too, and a lot of other guys, but fielder and braun stand there all fucking day looking at their shots, i hate that.

i am really building up a healthy dislike for the brewers. it took me awhile to accept them as a national league team, and at first they were just another crappy basement team to beat on back in the sosa years, but now that they have gotten a little better, im starting to really hate that franchise. mind you, they arent in the st. louis-level of disdain yet, but i hate them a lot more than the reds and pirates and astros.

what is with those pants sabbathia wears? the dud is a fat ass to begin with, and he wears these fucking enormous pants that are out there flapping in the breeze, making him look even fatter. not a good look.

*Just got home from the game-Nice to see Matt and Henry, who stopped by section 116 for a beer . It was just a great, but very tense game. Great to pin the first loss as a Brewer on C.C. and win a 1 run game. I was actually quite surprised that Wood pitched to Fielder. I figured he would walk him and pitch to Hardy-a right hander, who had not already hit 2 Home Runs to demonstrate that he was locked in tonight. But it all worked out. It looked like Fielder climbed the ladder on a couple of the fastballs. I think Wood was not going to give him anything too good there. But Fielder was perfectly willing to chase the fastball up, out of the zone. The breaking ball WAS nasty. 5 wins in a row now and the magic number is now just 4, to not only clinch the Central, but home field up to the World Series!!! Now the tickets I have for the 27th up in Milwaukee, look like they are not going to be real crucial, except maybe thats when they might be going for win #100 on the season.....

Call me a Wood apologist (speaking of which, anyone remember that crazy chick on the board who used to fawn about Wood?), but what more do you expect? Here is a guy that always had first inning trouble locating his breaking pitches, and now as a closer he doesnt have that inning or two to feel through location. Thus, he hits batters trying to brush them off the plate. He generally walks at least one in the inning. When he throws his heat, most of the time he can blow it by the guy, but there is also a good number of times guys are waiting on it because they know he wont throw anything else early in the count. Add on top of that, he is still "injured". Has he been great as a closer? For the most part. Is he the right type of pitcher to be a closer? Probably not. So we have to live with the good times and bad.
