As Olsen pointed out tho.. there’s things that look like it’s Justin’s fault that upon further inspection are terrible playcalls/designs

That’s not helping this offense -nor the QB- look good

You might be right.. but this game looked a lot like Lazar to me.. but there were definitely some really odd play calls. That 3rd down call was.. oblivious

It's not all play calling. Fields does like holding onto the ball too long. That works against Akron and Maryland, not in the NFL.

It’s so hard watching the Bears offense and trying to figure out just how much of the ‘coaching’ is holding up this team on that side of the ball. With Nagy calling plays it’s 100% obvious.. but with Lazar it feel like it’s a combo of personnel and play calling

Even as a rookie (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky wins that game, Green Bay played like crap.

Not all of it.. that last 3rd down call was designed to take longer to develop. Fields can’t toss the ball to receivers that aren’t looking for the ball. Glad Olsen showed that.. if he hadn’t we’d all be putting that 100% on Fields

Yeah, he’s a tard. He’s a tough listen on my drive home.. but lately some of the other news stations don’t come in so well so I default to them sometimes.. sucks because I already hate Speigel and his insistence on trying to work baseball talk into every conversation.. but my goodness is Parkins terrible

Well.. what can you say.. Rodgers is still Rodgers and the Bears still can’t quite get out of their own way when it comes to him.

And while the reffing was unusually bad in this game.. I’m not gonna blame the loss on that. Bad coaching on offense and questionable QB play killed the Bears today.

Defense looked solid until late. This team is league average imo (The Bears that is).. still looks like a .500 type team.

I mean, 3-3 might be a bit better than I expected, but I don't feel the arrow is really pointed up or anything.

We were told Fields is ready. Looks like (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. It could be the coaches. I’m just beyond sick with every Quarterback looking about the same.

It woulda been interesting to see how things played out had justin not taken his free play endzone INT and likely scoots us another 10yds updield for a FG attemot to get us up10-0. Defense fired up for maybe a stop or a turnover or even a FH instead if 7-7 and then we maybe hit our magic 14pt total under jystin in the 2Qand try to hold on from there and only.lose q4-21 or qhatever. It prolly woulda covered the spread anyways unless vegas was amart and had GB up.a tuddy/+ on the road @ the beloved.

Fields may be fast in the 40, but he does not have a quick first step. Frank Clark probably can't break 6 seconds in 40, but he sure looked quicker than Fields.

I thought the same thing—he’s not very elusive in the pocket.

He just isn't very quick. He's a strider.

strider's a good description. i wonder if it's a holdover from Fields having been a standout baseball player in high school. when you steal a base you typically plant your back foot and use it to propel yourself to a huge jump you use to cover as much ground as possible on your first stride and then fall into a more normal, shorter-stride, quicker-step sprint.

Doubt it's something they can easily break him out of. Fields does well standing in a somewhat clean pocket with relatively open receivers--but then 99% of QB's drafted would be pro-bowlers if they always/mostly worked from a clean pocket with open-by-NFL-standards receivers. Russ, Mahomes, Rodgers made hay early in their careers thanks to their ability to extend plays with their feet and not get tripped up by pursuing defenders.

As the Bears get more game tape on Fields they can adjust their game plan to account for his idiosyncrasies--if he breaks pocket, tell him to just take off and run with it, particularly on those crucial 3rd down plays. At least for now/the rest of this season. And then revisit it in the off-season and see if Fields can work on developing a quicker first step.

Definitely see occasional signs of what Fields could be, he will make a ton of rookie mistakes and it is good to have him make them this year and get them out of his system. It will be interesting to see what he can do with more talent and a game plan/play calling that suits him. They ran a great play action bootleg in the first series which gave him an easy completion to Kmet, then rarely went back to it the rest of the game while the Pack killed the Bears with almost the same play repeatedly.

Would be interesting to see what the Bears D could do if they got any play out of their safeties who must have missed a dozen tackles today. Replacement level guys would give you the same level of play and be much cheaper.

Why is Jimmy Graham still on this team?
