7 - 1 = 6

Six is the current magic number. Sweep the Brewers...and it's ZERO!!!

I am going to be at the games on Friday & Saturday...hoping to see an on-field celebration like I did in 2003. Pretty fun. First of several celebrations I hope!

my bad - the radio reported 5. Guess I can't believe those assholes any longer. I should've quit instead of giving him some slack when Laurence claimed to have broken 4 stories way back - but i digress.

The Magic number to clinch the Central Division, as well as home field up to the World Series, is now just 4!!!!!

2!!! They can clinch as early as tomorrow if they win and the Brewers lose. But I would rather see the Brewers win and the Cubs win Friday and Saturday, so they can celebrate their division championship on the field after beating the Redbirds. I want to see LaRussa's face as Jim Edmonds is celebrating a Cubs division Chamionship.

I know you want to clinch ASAP, but if I were a Cubs fan (god help me :P), I would much rather the Cubs lose today, Brewers lose tonite, then clinch via victory tommorow. Or if the Cubs win, Brewers win tonite, and again Cubs win tomorow.

But, thats just me.

As a Cubs fan..we'll take it whenever we can, however the circumstances. That said, I am going to today's game & tomorrows...and am with you on wanting to see them WIN it with an on field celebration. I was there in 2003 & it was great.

We need to see several celebrations...with one ultimate one. World Series VICTORY damnit!

No. I just guess I don't see why LaRussa would really care...he has two rings, and I'm sure there's a stiff drink waiting for him after the game...

Reds are up 9-1. Barring a miracle, it looks like we are close to knocking this down by 1.

Outstanding. This means the Cubs can clinch with a win tomorrow against the Cardinals. Lilly has been sharp in his last couple starts and his ERA is over a run lower than Pineiro's. Plus the Cardinals have had a tough time vs lefties this season. All in all, it looks good for tomorrow.

The magic number now switches to the playoffs, where we all know its 11. Of course, they still need a couple more wins to have home field throughout the National League playoffs. But plenty of time to set the rotation for the playoff run. That is a nice plus.
