That is how my oldest son and I think about the Bears but my kid in Washington is an eternal optimist of all things Bears. Its really funny to listen to him try and rationalize everything that Pace does especially the having 11 tight ends on the roster and he hates to listen to his brother and I talk negative about the Da Bears decisions.

Pace is fucked. He's done. They won't even be 8-8 next year.

I do agree TE is a need, but Cleveland was a stronger pick in terms of overall talent and need and I don't even think Kmet was the best TE on the board.

I got a few questions earlier this month when I put Notre Dame tight end Cole Kmet to the Bears at No. 43 in my two-round mock draft. But it makes sense with Trey Burton gone and Adam Shaheen not working out. Yes, Chicago signed Jimmy Graham, but Kmet is a pick for the long term. He is the clear top tight end in this class, and I had him No. 29 overall.

There are a lot of players going off the board now who are way better than Kmet.

He really doesn't look any better than Colby Parkinson, who just got drafted in the late-fourth.

At the end of the day this is a really bad pick. Bad picks work out all the time in the NFL, but Kmet is going to need to transform physically for that to happen. The Bears overdrafted a player who was really more like a fourth or fifth rounder talent wise and they passed on a lot of really intriguing talent at really important positions to do it. I look up college footage on YouTube of guys who good tight eneds around the NFL now and Kmet looks slower and softer than all of them.

I even look at the other domer tight ends over the years like Eifert and Rudolph and Kmet just looks....way worse.

His ceiling, if he can bulk up without getting any slower or less agile (already he is bottomed out in these traits, he cant get lower and stay rosterable), is like a Vance McDonald or Tyler Higbee. A top-end TE2 and a low-end TE1 is his reasonable best-case scenario unless he has some sort of athletic renaissance.

So I guess I've stepped off the ledge a little bit, but man there are guys who are going to be All-Pro's drafted not long after Kmet and its not gonna be pleasant looking back.

Looking like a bust. As a 2nd rounder he doesn't really do anything to distinguish himself from six other Caucasian TEs on the roster.

He's a little droppy. Then again so are MANY on this Bears team.

When he's not dropping passes he likes to spend his time not getting open.

Yeah he doesn't seem particularly quick for a TE, either, but he's also not particularly slow. Right now he has to prove that he's not just Jesse James But Younger.

Right in that meaty part of the curve: not showing off, not falling behind.
