And now I understand why players weren't sympathetic. When I thought it was one of a few other players, I couldn't believe that they would treat a teammate that way. Finding out it was the first-line power forward of the future who couldn't hack it and let some a/v nerd suck his cock in an attempt to get ahead, the picture is clearer.

He was literally supposed to be the guy who made Dustin Byfuglien (who you could argue deserved the Conn Smythe in 2010) expendable as a trade piece to get under cap. Everyone went into the 2010-2011 camp expecting "John Doe" would be the guy who would stand in front of Bobby Lu and be intimidating enough to get inside of his fragile head.

Who is John Doe? Why won't you write his name??? Let's go, spill it.

Possibly the biggest bust in Blackhawks history and Dale Tallon's worst draft pick: Kyle Beach

A blog wrote this about him when listing biggest busts in Blackhawks history:

https://lastwordonsports.com/hockey/202 ... ince-2000/

Quote:
Kyle Beach
One of the worst Chicago Blackhawks draft picks in history is Kyle Beach. A player who possessed the strength and scoring ability that many teams dream about. He had the skills and physicality but there were questions about his attitude. This caused some teams to pass on him, allowing Chicago to take him 11th overall in the 2008 draft. The attitude issues proved to be costly, as he racked up large penalty minutes in the AHL and never put his game together. He never appeared in an NHL game.

Definitely some questions about that physicality on his scouting report if he let a 5'5 pervert overpower him. I mean how the fuck could you expect him to go to toe with Kevin Bieksa? Seriously, I'm 100% not blaming players in camp who mocked him. If I knew him and the perp, I'd mock him too for not being able to fight out of that situation.

yea he sucked. I would mock him too, what a patriot.

Well according to the report, it was Aldrich who did the sucking

Cam Barker was turned into Nick Leddy. That's a good draft pick if you can get something of that value for him.

It is a little weird though, isn't it? I assume if some dude demanded to suck your cock, you'd be like, "What? Are you nuts?" And if he insisted and it was obvious you could beat the snot out of him, I'm guessing he would be missing some teeth.

Hard to wrap your mind around a 5'5 guy assaulting a hockey player who is 6'3.

It is strange, but I'm only tangentially following the story so I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Did this only start when the guy was on the Hawks?

Yeah, fuck those people who....asked for evidence of claims.

Come on Juice, context is everything. Yeah, of course people would want to ask for evidence of the claims, that is understandable. However, look at the rest of DAC's statement in total. Wanting to wait to see what the results of the investigation were is fine, but victim shaming and accusing John Doe of a money grab isn't. For those in this thread asking, "Why didn't he kick the scrawny coaches ass?" Do you honestly believe a 20 year-old who is fighting for a spot on a team that close to a championship wasn't afraid of the power that coach had? We all can say, "Who cares, it's the video coach?" Most of us here have a different level of development and world outlook than a 20 year-old who has been doing nothing but eat/sleep/drink hockey for their whole lives. If is was Beach (or whomever) do they have the executive functioning maturity to realize that this guy didn't really hold the power over him?

Very well said HD.

You guys whonare blaming the victim for not beating up Aldrich are morons who don't understand victim psychology.
It's not always about being physically overpowered. You're talking about someone who apparently made it clear that he had some authority over his job and earning potential. He held sway over whether he would make it in the NHL on some level. You're Essentially talking about a very young man who didn't have a guaranteed shot at the show. And this guy told him he could get him kicked out.

I disagree with your take. a 20 year old from BC with probably little other skills to offer is afraid of whatever control or power that coach has over him. I'm not sure how old you are now, but a 20-year old with little knowledge of the world outside of hockey has no idea of how to deal with that situation. I guess all I can say is, congrats for having the mental ability to not be a victim. You're right...Shame on Beach for not knowing how to handle that situation.

It's incredibly strange, but it happened and the fact that the organization covered it up, in this day and age, is just mind blowing and so very sad.

The $2mil fine and letting the GM resign is nowhere near punishment enough.

And honestly, any player that knew about it or suspected hijinks were taking place and did/said nothing, needs to take a good hard look in the mirror at themselves.

Guy who knew how to manipulate his role on the team with a player he viewed as easy to take advantage of though? You don't think the coach knew which target to hit up?

Clearly he did and should be hung by his cock in the town square for the abuse.

In no way am I defending this piece of trash.

Darkside and I agree again.

Good quote from Paul Vincent who reported the incident initially...

Vincent said he feels vindicated and that Bowman made the right decision to step down.

“I get emotional because two kids, the two Blackhawks kids, were good kids, and it really upsets me their careers went nowhere and it’s a shame,” he said. “I think it made a difference with both of them, I think it impacted them in so many different ways.”

It's a lot different when something like this happens to "your" team. Its easy to point and laugh and curse about Penn State. When it hits close to home and the shoe is on the other foot, well people start singing a different tune real quick.

I couldn't care less about hockey, but if something like this happened to the White Sox, I would be absolutely devastated. I would probably feel a thousand times time worse than I did earlier this month when they lost the ALDS.

It wasnt that long ago that you wrestled with some of these hard things as well. From the first thread on this story...

It wasnt that long ago that you wrestled with some of these hard things as well. From the first thread on this story...

I know that this will sound insensitive, but I struggle understanding how heterosexual male professional athletes allow a guy like Bradley Aldrich to sexually assault them multiple times. He should have been eating out of a straw after the first attempt. He wasn't some physically imposing guy, management or even a head coach. He had no control over a player's career.

My ASSumption was that he was already in the NHL and not some kid still working his way up.

A 1st round lottery pick with the tools to step in after departures that everyone knew would be coming due to cap squeeze isn't exactly someone working his way up. He is someone who essentially has his spot already there for him. Dustin Byfuglien's or Troy Brouwer's spot was literally his to take by just showing up and doing work. Clearly the scouting on him was way off because damn was he soft.

This wasn't some 5th rounder selected from a podunk USHL team

Wonder where all the fucksticks are who have been pushing back on this story since the allegations came out. I am talking about the homer fans on the HF boards and the Athletic comment sections- the ones who kept clamoring for evidence and asking "were you there?" The ones who kept victim shaming and wondering why the John Does kept quiet and if they were just looking for money. When they should have kept their mouths shut and hoped the allegations were not as bad as they appeared, they had to defend their team every step of the way. Well fuck them! Hope you enjoy the disdain that everyone in the hockey world feels for your team. Are you wearing your jersey today?

DAC's sentiment, as well as yours, works perfectly well without trying to impugn anyone for asking for proof of an outrageous claim, even if the requests for evidence were disingenuous or made alongside other facile arguments. Otherwise I agree that this guy was a perverted sexual predator who preyed on the gumption and naiveté of a young professional athlete, and the team unnecessarily bungled the handling of the incident.

You understand that at 50. Would you understand that at 20? I imagine that had a major psychological impact on his development as a player and as a man. He probably asked himself why didn't he kick his ass more times than anyone in this thread has.

Deserved? No

Should've been able and willing to fight it off? Yes

I mean holy shit how do the guys in the room not make fun of him when that one gets out? He had 10" height and a 50+% weight advantage on the predator.
