They did? Why?

They fired Foley (twice now as his end this season is not his choice) and let Stan resign

You think they're canning him? I haven't been paying attention.

They announced over the summer that Foley is out after this year. It was said to not be by his choice and was essentially a firing.

Is it because he's a shadow of his former self? I mean... he's so grabassy lately.

I recall something along the lines of, when the team asked him if he wanted to continue broadcasting after 2022 when his contract was up, he was non-committal on continuing. Not sure if they gave him an ultimatum or not (doubt they did) but it seems like they made up his mind for him.

He definitely lost a few mph off his fastball but when he's not meatballin' it up with Ed, he's still pretty good at calling a game.

I think if he had a playoff caliber Stanley Cup threatening winning team to broadcast he’d be fine. I still think he calls a good game when the team isn’t shit.

FWIW, I heard that they were tired of him being a diva and said he was done when his contract ends.

While watching the Canes intermission, they have a gray tracker on the puck for some of the highlight (think 90s-era Fox but it isn't as obnoxious). It made following the play very easy. Really interesting.

The Pat and Eddie act got old a long time ago. Pat was my favorite when I used to listen on the radio. But it is a tired combo made tougher by terrible on ice hockey.

I think that stuff is fine for replays and highlights -- it's no different from a telestrator, really. It's during live action that it's annoying as hell.

What a goat fuck. I had a great view of several of the goals (we were sitting at the blue line for the Hawks supposed attack in the first and third). DeHaan totally fucked up a goal by going for a hit on Teuvo and missing the puck so he ended up totally out of position for the goal five seconds later. That was typical for the night. No sense of urgency at 5 on 5, Raanta was rusty as hell otherwise it would have been 6-1.

If they get 20 points this season, I will be stunned.
They will have the second worst record and lose the lottery and the #3 pick.

The only saving grace was the brunette sitting next to me who was a Hawks fan, so at least I had a nice view of her ass every time she stood up to watch the play in the far end.

I thought yesterday was better than they normally have been. A lot less meatballin' than in the past. I wonder if they were talked to or if they decided amongst the two of them to tone it down. But it was definitely toned down.

After waking up very early, I decided to watch the replay of the Hawks/Blues game. Why? That's a waste of an hour. Without Kane the Hawks have very little to watch. Debrincat- I guess. Toews is invisible. Dach controls the puck but it never leads to anything. This team is not worth one's attention.

I think they will win!

Eddie O said something about savior faire and I've been watching Klondike Kat for the last 15 minutes. It's excellent.

Kaner still gives me a reason to watch this team.

Carolina has to lose eventually, right?
I'll be happy with OTL.

Fleury's 5 hole is more open for business than Brad Aldrich with a prospect

I don't know but Eddie O is on the Blues/Kings game. Are they losing him to the nation broadcast next year?

It really is an awful listen. I don’t think I could get through a whole game with him even if they were a good team and they are far from good.

I knew they would get criticism but they were fine. I like a little a rough around the edges and the young energy they brought. I usually choose to watch the other team's feed but I would listen to those guys again.

I am not sure about Cohen as color analyst (could be that I don't like the sound of his voice) but I did like the play by play guy last night.

Cohen is beyond awful.

The PBP guy is no Pat Foley, but maybe Cohen makes him sound worse.

Hope they pair the PBP guy with Olczyk in the not too distant future to see if Cohen really is the problem.

That must be Chelios’s daughter doing pregame. Unfortunately for her she got her dads nose.
