While I like his commentary and by all accounts he seems like a good guy, my vote his Alex Brown. Right defensive end whose best sack total in a year was 7. Good player, but not great.

during the ditka era, i'd say ditka himself. i hold him responsible for not getting to at least 2 more super bowls - a crime with that defense.

singletary was excellent during an era when most teams ran the first 2 downs and passed on 3rd down. the media made a big deal of how many helmets he destroyed as a tackler. when he dropped off, he fell off a cliff.

during the next era, i'd say everyone cheered on alonzo spellman and 'hoped' he'd come around.

He's #4 on the Bears all time Sack leaders. I never would have thought that to be true. When I saw that on his resume on the CSN Football aftershow, I had to look it up and it is indeed true. He's head of guys like Trace Armstrong, Urlacher, Otis Wilson, The Fridge, etc.

When I looked it up, what really shocked me was Julius Peppers is #9 and he was only here for 4 seasons.

You realize that All Pro and Pro Bowl are different things right?

For example, Mitchell Tribusky was a Pro Bowl player, but in no way, shape or form was he ever, nor will he ever be, an All Pro player.

Singletary was good, but having a Hall of Famer in front of you taking up blockers makes your job easier if your a LB, also had McMichael who was pretty damn good and Fridge in protecting him. Singletary was a brilliant player who was always in the right place because he studied the game intensely.
