Hawk mentioned it during the game. He said the bone is in line and still healing. I think he said Carlos will pick up a bat next week and take some "dry swings". Carlos will join the Sox in KC. It sounds like there might be a chance for him to play in the playoffs. That was a ray of light on this otherwise shitty game by the Sox.

Beardown, that'll be something if Carlos somehow returns to the lineup before the end of the season. I know Sun-Times' writer Joe Cowley mentioned the same thing earlier tonight during the White Sox Radio Network pregame with 670 "The SCORE's" Chris Rongey. Unfortunately, Joe Crede's back injury is another story...Cowley says that Crede hasn't been cooperative concerning seeking a second opinion.

I don't care about Crede. Uribe has been hitting and fielding lately.

Here is the MLB.com article about Quentin's status and possible return.

Next time I break any bone in my body and 3 weeks later I am healed feel free to test me.

 Yeah, lets test Zambrano too

My god you are skeptic of everything. The story was that he had a small chance of coming back by the playoffs all along. Maybe he lucked out and it will happen. It was a break, but not a big or a serious one and that was the story all along.

With the way Thome strikes out in key situations, and how bad overall Griffey has been, I would be fine with Quentin DH'ing at even 80% in the ALDS. Just bat him 5th or 6th maybe.

Unless he can get in a couple games before the playoffs ( thats IF they qualify) it would be very risky. He will need to get his timing back, and you can't do that, just hitting off a tee, or in the cages. If they make the playoffs and he tries to play, I expect very little from the guy that might have been the A.L. MVP, had he not been so stupid and broken the hand.

He's been standing at the "plate" during bullpen sessions to keep his eye sharp. He's a professional hitter and a workaholic. <wanny> He'll be fine </wanny>

I think it is great Quentin is working so hard to get back, and hell even if he is only 80% in the playoffs that is better than having some of the other guys at 100% out there.

Can you really be less than 100% with a broken wrist?

I will not count on him until I see him on the field.

I think you can be less than 100% with the fact that it takes guys awhile to get their swing back after breaking their wrist.

The perfect reponse to both your posts, GD and RFDC: Derrek Lee.

I think Frank needs to take Rongey's spot once he goes to do the Radio with Farmer (I predict).

No greater Sox apologist on the planet.

I don't hate the Sox and even attend a few games, but CQ is just not coming back and if he does come back he is not going to be healthy at least according to modern medicine.

Has anybody heard or read anything new about Quentin? I haven't. Just curious.

By the way, the Sox are 9-9 since Quentin broke his wrist.

They would have been better in this stretch if not for the bullpen.

Yeah-replacing a guy who has hit .243 with 18 Homers and 55 RBI, has to be pretty tough!! It's been the releif pitchers, first and foremost. They have put the BULL in the Bullpen. But Quentins absence has surely made a real difference. If they fail to win the Division, it would be absolutely reasonable to point to this injury as having been the difference.

Konerko was hot as hell at the time of his injury Steve. C'mon. Try to make sense. I know you can. You choose not to.

You're right about the bullpen. If we don't make the playoffs that is the reason. Not the Quentin injury.

Okay BD, he was playing his best when he got hurt. That is true. Heck, there were even a few people, getting ready to step back onto Konerko's once sinking ship, as the water level seemed to be dissipating. But I thing the Bullpen and Quentins loss, were bigger problems. As much as the bullpen is the chief concern, if they lose the division by 1 game or tie and lose in a 163rd game, one could reasonably say, that had Quentin been healthy, they might well have won a couple games they lost and been the difference.

Here is the latest on Quentin's status.
http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/1181209,CST-SPT-soxnt24.article

Doesn't have full range of motion. Thinks it will come back soon. Seeing a doctor on Friday to re-evaluate the wrist.

I doubt he'll put on a Sox uniform until next Spring.

Also, his injury isn't much of an issue in my opinion since his team will most likely be watching the playoffs on TV.

Pitching. Having him in the lineup is great, but if they pitch good they will win.

So far, they have not pitched good in NY or Minneapolis.

At the very least, it offers less excuse for Jr. to play.

Frank is right, having Quentin back would be great, but pitching is going to determine this thing.

Of course. I know that. But I want both. Pitching and Quentin. What's wrong with that?

I know we're not gonna get him back for the regular season. I'm hoping for the 1st round. If not and we can advance maybe the 2nd round.

If they don't play better and now. It won't matter.
