Borom is a rookie 5th round pick who was on injured reserve until recently. I expect him to make mistakes. His errors are far less egregious than a $70 million ouchy pass rusher lining up in the neutral zone twice in the waning seconds of the game.

I can't even blame Corrente for throwing the taunting flag. Its a shit rule but its on the books and the NFL has placed an emphasis on calling it. He was just doing his job. If you're going to flag a guy skipping around as "taunting," then you have to flag the entire defense running to the endzone to do a coordinated celebration after a turnover.

I can blame Corrente for his pattern of shit calls. He took a Bears touchdown off the board with a phantom personal foul on Daniels, swallowed his flag when Fields was hit 3 seconds after he threw the ball, called a roughing penalty when Big Ben was hit as he threw the ball, and then intentionally hip checked a Bears player and called a bullshit taunting call.

You can sure as shit blame Corrente, rules are open to interpretation. Kid Rock on Roids didn't open his mouth and was 40 yards away.

I think that was incidental contact, Nas.

Agree on the other poor/missed calls. The non-calls on Fields are ridiculous. There was also a play early in the game when Fields was hit in the helmet as he went out of bounds, no flag. If that were Rodgers, Brady, or Mahomes that had their helmet touched like that, there would have been yellow laundry all over the place.

Still, with the offsides/neutral zone infractions, and the fumble on the kickoff return, Bears shot themselves in the foot more than once last night.

He was eyeballing methman just waiting to launch that flag. I assume he was turned off by the gymnastics routine.

There is no world in which tatted Johnny Lawrence was taunting the Steelers.

The shot Kmet took to the back of the head/neck when he was on the ground could also have been called.

It's ironic the NFL preaches "player safety" but does nothing about Mincah Fitzpatrick head hunting all game. Dirty ass player.

The Bears got screwed. Corrente should be suspended.

Agreed

He initiated contact with Marsh, and then threw the flag.

Unprofessional and unacceptable.

The really disturbing thing about last night's game vis a vis the refs is the extent to which they are allowing late and/or helmet-to-helmet hits on Fields.

This started a few weeks ago and is escalating. I would imagine that opposing teams are seeing the uncalled hits during film study and are thinking that the refs are giving them license to play fields more aggressively than they do many other quarterbacks. This permissive officiating is creating an unusually dangerous situation for Fields.

IMO, the Bears should file a grievance with the union.

I think that's due in part to the way Fields runs and slides. He is prone to try to eke out an extra yard by sliding very late or holding the ball out on the sideline. The rules are there to protect the QB but it seems like Fields pushes the envelope and once in a while gets clocked. And then sometimes it looks like he flops or exaggerates the impact to get a call, which probably has the opposite effect with the refs.

Big Ben gets the Rodgers treatment. I'm surprised Fields didn't get a flag thrown on him for hugging Big Ben after the game.

Not exactly. The 1 sack he "gave up" was a coverage sack.

Was that the one where he gently escorted Watt right into the sack?

He took an obviously late hit in the pocket last night without a call and another obvious helmet-to-helmet along the sideline that cannot be explained by his running/playing style. Similar things have happened in other games.

The offsides/NZ infractions were all legit. Roquan lined up fine, but definitely jumped offsides.

Bob doesn't even watch the games and just lets social media memes tell him what happened.

The refs fucked the Bears hard last night. No need to make up examples where they didn't to add to the point.

After Pitt got into Bears territory with about a minute left left on their game-winning drive, I told myself that the Bears should just let them score so we can get the ball back down 6-7. Let Fields have enough time to score. I then realized I've never had that thought when it came to the Bears. I've thought that all the time for other teams, but never the Bears. Fields is still a rookie and we don't know what he's going to become, but given the rhythm he was in yesterday, I'm sure I'm not the only one who wanted the Bears to concede the score just so Fields could engineer one last drive.

Don't get me wrong, I am not anointing him as "the one." In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he regresses to 4/17 for 37 yards passing and 11 sacks next game. Just saying...

I think they should change the rule to add that someone has to be paying attention to you for you to be taunting them.

I was excited about the Roethlisberger spike because it could potentially give Fields another shot to get them in realistic FG range.

No way anyone can tell if they are offsides or not from that view.

And the kick did not even make it to the end zone, so I doubt it was good from 60
