We have three inches forecasted next Saturday night in the area. I'll believe it when I see it. Should have most everything out of the field by then I hope.

Too early to tell if snow will actually accumulate. Good chance most of the area sees flurries at some point next weekend though.

Thankfully this is the part of the year where the lake keeps it warm enough for no snow. But I gotta go get a giant bag of salt.

Edit: We just got about 5 minutes of snow/sleet.

Just distill Peter Clavin posts. Plenty of salt to be gotten there.

It's interesting that the streets are fairly clear...did they already clean them up? I would think based on the destruction that the wind would have blown everything onto the streets and it would be one big mess.

Sometimes emergency vehicles follow a snow plow so they can gain access.

Tornado estimated on the ground for nearly 227 miles, which would be a record. Striking a rural area in the middle of the night, most people never had a chance. At least EF4 damage, possibly/probably EF5.

It looks like the 8 year streak of no EF5 tornadoes may have ended

twister(s? looks like too much damage for just one tornado) touched down last night around 9:30 PM local time. Smack in the middle of new episodes of Nancy Drew and Magnum PI, leaving locals in the lurch as to the resolution of the respective mysteries.

12 hours plenty of time to clear streets, which was likely the first order of business to facilitate search and rescue efforts.

Thunder and lightning in the Plainfield area at the moment. Odd because I checked the weather just about an hour ago and there was no mention of rain.

Last year we had a whole winter during two weeks in February. If winter is a sure fire thing, I kinda like it that way.

 Yeah for at least a week they were saying rain/snow mix for the evening of the 26th. Definitely odd to take the dog out and have it sleeting and lighting at the same time though.

Shocking that the first week of January will see high temps in the 20s.

Calling for 1-2 inches for SE Wisconsin. I'll believe it when I see it. Right now just keeping fingers crossed for mid January when I go to Mexico.

 I just don't know how people do that. When I used to let mine out in the back yard I had two dogs and an invisible fence, and I couldn't go more than a week without picking up. They would eventually start tracking the shit in the house. I don't have a fenced yard anymore so I take dog out every time myself and pick up each time. It's tedious and annoying but don't have another choice this time around.

I rely on the squirrels, rabbits, and various wildlife in the yard to take care of that business.

But, I have a small dog.

Strong storm system likely moving our way on New Year's Day. If it tracks more south, we'll be on the backside of the storm with cooler temps and may get walloped with snow. If it tracks further north, will mainly be a rain event.
