North had a offer from WFAN in NY after his first year on the score for a 1million back then. 1 million bucks back then was much more than it is now.

North turned down the 800K offer based off 'principle' or maybe you can call it 'street smarts'. I remember him talking about it later saying it was an insult to take a cut in pay at that time as he was one of the main people who built the station.

I'm sure he's doing well. There was a movie in talks about his life but that was like 15 years ago and seems to have fizzled out.

I do like North and he has a unique take on chicago sports radio nobody else has. He should be on the air ONLY TALKING SPORTS maybe for like 3-4 hours max a week.

I remember back in the late 80s North was on with Murph on some low wattage radio station doing football gambling. Then Murph went to WLS and then the Score with North.

Give credit to North to parlay his background with no radio experience and running a hot dog stand into a multi million dollar radio career.

I believe Bebe controls the purse strings, and made some wise financial decisions.

So North hasn't really worked in 13 and a half years. That's crazy. He must have saved some money from the good days.

Barack Obama hadn't gotten the Democratic nomination yet.

Appreciate all the replies. I remember when North was huge in Chicago, but I never ever got him, but the money at the time seemed different(meaning they all made more).

North made sense, Bernstein when he could have gone national and just completely screwed it up by not toning down calling callers losers, etc. I guess he didn't sell out, but he could have been a Greenberg level, he is talented. He just messed up.

Why on earth would Goff need one? I assume most he made was 150K or so at most?

I was huge on Parkins and he is still only mid 30s I think, so maybe he could use one to go national.

Bernstein would have been bigger than Greenberg but you’re right he missed the boat. He also got too
Comfortable with Boers. But he was making good $$ so I could see why he didn’t jump ship.

Parkins was also trending National but Covid got in his way. He’s still young and can make the move in the future

Bernstein was never going to be Greenberg for reasons obvious to anyone with eyes.

I think even Bernstein understands it

Greenberg is a good looking metrosexual. He could just as easily be a news anchor, hosting a faux news show or sitting on some mid day yenta fest.

Greenberg was made famous by his radio work above all else.

ESPN made stars out of some of the homeliest people ever to grace a camera.

John Clayton and Keith Berman are prime examples of that.

Bernsy chose to stay here and be the smart kid in the dumb row.

He had a gig presented to him on a platter that paid very well in the early 2000s.

And like many others who never took a shot he will have eternity to wonder "what if..."
