Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. — a key component in his team's quest for contention — will undergo back surgery and is expected to miss the remainder of the season, according to multiple reports.
Lucky the Bulls didn’t get stuck with that max extension.
Even if he didn't hurt himself the max deal was a bad play. He hadn't proven enough at that point.
And he is expected to make a full recovery so this is hardly the end of his career. dude, stop reading medical opinions of Woj and Shams. There is NO WAY he makes anywhere close to a full recovery. At 2 back surgeries he was already screwed for life. At 3 back surgeries he is completely fucked. The scar tissue alone is going to ruin him for the rest of his life. Trust me, no one knows this more than me. It was after back surgery #3 (at age 30) that the doc told me I could never run or jump ever again for the rest of my life.
Anyone telling you that he is going to make a full recovery is an ignorant moron. He'll try and come back, but he will never be the same and his back will be a major issue for him the rest of his life. If he attempts to play basketball again I guarantee he has more back surgeries in his future.
Scottie Pippen had at least 2 back surgeries. And still played after having them.
In 2016, NFL linebacker Rob Gronkowski had microdiscectomy surgery—his third back surgery recovery. He came back the following year and was named to his fifth Pro Bowl after a stellar season.
Didn't realize Scottie had back surgery after his rookie year. And then again ten years later in 1998. He was able to keep playing after that, but only played more than 62 games in a season once and was never the same player he was before that second surgery. Stats went way down after that second back surgery.
Gronk had at least 2 back surgeries and maybe 3 (not sure if the other one was for disc or fracture) and was able to keep playing. That's pretty amazing and definitely an outlier. Also helps that football is easier on the back than basketball as crazy as taht sounds. running on grass makes a world of difference.
Neither of them had 3 back surgeries before they turned 24 though.
