Brad Biggs reporting that he met with ownership yesterday and cancelled the rest of the days meetings. Something is up. I don’t think you cancel much in a week you only have 3 days to prepare.

Nagy seems like a pretty good guy but this coaching thing has really not worked out for him. Not the offensive genius and QB whisperer he was made out to be. Not really like the Bears to let a guy go mid season, and if they do then who do they lean on to finish the season? I don't see a lot of HC material on his staff. Are there already names out there for the next big name that will be available? Not sure you would want to go back to the KC well and look at Bieniemy. I had heard rumors that he may be more interested in one of the big college jobs opening up.

Almost feel sorry for Nagy at this point because this is yet another McKaskey family misstep.

It was obvious to everyone in the world except George/Ted that Nagy was done after last year.

This is yet another example of why Virginia needs to rebuild the organization from the ground up and bring in someone that actually knows football to run the football side of the organization, have zero faith that George will hire the best HC/GM candidates given the his recent history of almost spectacular failure.

Nagy sucks but he's been wronged here. Fire people with dignity. It's been anything but these past few days.

What kind of coach would want to come here to work with these clowns. Probably gonna be a younger one looking for his first HC job (like Nagy) because the more established ones aren't gonna put up with this BS.

The whole thing reeks of the continuing ineptitude of the McCaskeys and Phillips. If the story is false, you maybe put out a brief press release saying so, or you completely ignore it. If it's true, how did it get leaked and why do you send out the special teams coach and then Nagy to answer questions and blatantly lie that the story isn't true? This franchise is a joke. Maybe not a Lions-level joke, but just an awful organization.

Who wouldn't? The owners don't meddle in the day to day business. They are loyal to coaches beyond all reasonableness. Nagy is at least one year beyond when most owners would have fired him and two years beyond when many would have.

Anyway, there is a lot to like as an offensive minded coach with a new five year deal.

Young coaches that actually want to have a career.

The Bears consistently don't provide a system for a coach to succeed. They are too loyal to front office / GMs that seem to have a noncohesive agenda with the coaching staff.

If I was a young, up-and-coming coach with potential I wouldn't touch this job.

You can just get the John Foxs of the world or a young nobody.

I know it's a joke.

But....Ditka was luck. Nobody was hiring Ditka then.

I'm not saying that they can't get lucky with a guy that's not on anybody's radar. I'm just not counting on it.

They should hire Dave Toub.

I know it's a meatball thought, but I do not want a player's coach. We've had enough of those.

Agree with gd, but still I doubt a young up and coming coach has the Bears at the top of his list of destinations.

vegan, the guy who has really been wronged here is Fields. Sure the kid needs to play better, but his rookie season has been a trainwreck from the start of training camp when he had basically zero reps with the first time, and on through the mistakes of the season. Some of that is Fields not playing well. His head coach seemingly has done him basically no favors in getting prepped for running an NFL offense.

Arians was smart enough to see Phillips and McCaskey for who they are.

I think I prefer defensive HC and then just churn through the best OCs you think until you find your magic.

Yes indeed, makes me madder he wasn't fired after the Cleveland game.

While I mostly agree, I think Nagy didn't want Fields playing much this year. It felt like The Plan was for he and Pace to milk a couple more years by slowly introducing Fields into the mix, keeping hope alive as long as possible. Then Dalton got hurt, forcing Fields into action, and then someone from above demanded Fields be the starter.

The backup QB is one snap away from entering the game, and he needs to be ready to go. Fields needed to be ready go to from snap one, and he played a bit in the Rams game as it was. A guy like Dalton or Foles that has been in the league for a long time can likely come into a game with little or minimal preparation and generally keep the train on the tracks so to speak. The vast majority of rookies cannot. Again I acknowledge that Fields needs to play better, but we are seeing some positive improvements from him. Its obvious to everyone though that he was thrown into the fire woefully unprepared. That is not the rookie QB's fault.

Kellen Moore would be 34 training camp 2022.

Bring in a d coordinator with HC experience to help Moore (as HC) the first year or two, à la Wade Phillips / Sean McVay first few years in LA situation.

You'd think Jerry Jones would dump McCarthy for Moore; but all the noises out of Dallas suggest they expect Moore to walk first HC job offer he gets.

The chance to work with Fields with a year of (bad) tape could be enough of a carrot to land Moore for the Bears.

Agreed, but as you have pointed out before, the McCaskey's need to sell at this point.

No one in the family has a clue. About anything apparently.

It's 2022, you can only have a player's coach or Dan Campbell.
