Halfway through season 3; the Kreese, Johnny, and Daniel stuff are excellent.

The kids stuff is boring.

Hang on a sec. It came out on Jan 1, and by Jan 2 morning, you watched ALL of it?

Explain this to us. I have a hard time believin' you watched EVERY SINGLE FUCKING EPISODE in one day.

I watch everything on Netflix at 1.5x speed. Then I forward through boring scenes. I don't need to watch 5 minutes of a guy balancing himself on a log. Ain't nobody got time for that.

I get what you're saying, but I thought some of the Miguel rehab stuff was pretty funny.

Robby is kind of boring.

In any event, the kids stuff starts to come together nicely towards the end of the season and culminates with a great finale.

Miguel is a good character. The Sam and Demetri stuff is boring. I do like how Kreese is trying to poison Robby.

I honestly had no idea there was a third karate kid.

Silver’s character bio is amazing: CEO of nuclear waste disposal firm DynaTox, Vietnam vet and founder of a children’s karate dojo.

You should definitely check out KK 3. The movie itself is uneven and under-written, but the Terry Silver character is an all-time hilarious villain.

I’m slightly too young for the whole series; I was born after the first one came out, so by the time it was even on my radar, it was mostly just the wax on wax off joke. I can’t say that I’ve ever watched either of the first two start-to-finish in one sitting.

That is a shame, you should fix that immediately.

I guess I cannot recall if I truly knew there was a Karate Kid III. I know i've never seen it.

Sweet Mother of God, that just reads like a HORRIBLE movie. I'll take a hard pass and save the 111 minutes of hell.

KK 3 is on and it’s stopped me from doing any work so far today. Silver is as advertised.

As I type he’s wrecking the shit out of a wooden karate guy in the dojo to emasculate LaRusso. It’s phenomenal acting and even better writing.

the best part about that scene is terry's building chuckle as daniel continues to commit domestic violence against himself.

V3 is one of the best bad movies of all time. It actually gets cheesier and better each time you watch it. It is laughably stupid. Terry Silver is a massive asshat. Waaaah. Waaaaah. Waaaah.

I actually had to do work so I missed the ending. Rewatching now.

Silver has an all time cackle.

And now he’s at a children’s karate tournament in a tan blazer and an ascot.

It is the worst ending to a sports related movie. Daniel gets his ass kicked repeatedly and is only still in the match because of purposeful deductions. He wins one lucky point to be champion. And yet, the movie is perfect.

ok, i couldn't wait for this. so we watched the entire 10 episodes already. i mean, honestly, this is more like a 6 hour movie than it is episodic. every episode leads into another part of the story. you may as well just watch it all at once.

i've stated before my fear with any show that i like or is written well is bound to disappoint because it gets on too long or squeezes every ounce of too many resources that it gets diluted.

unfortunately, this is really no exception. i mean, i still love the show. but it's overstuffed, and sometimes the predictability is too much. this show needs to be done after season 5, which it does seem to be hinting to. but anything after that, i may just bail.

there are still some great moments and the first 2 episodes or so have huge laughs. they really have fun with the material, even now. but they bring back some characters that bring my piss to a boil (wanna-be cobra kai bearded loser)...

just like "karate kid 3", though...the very, very best part of this season.

terry silver. thomas ian griffith is just made for this role, and he eats it alive. he looks older, he looks a bit worn out when his hair is not tied in a pony tail. but boy does he own every scene he's in.

it still retains all the drama that's been building, and adds *another* character that i guess works on some level. it gives danny's son a purpose in the show finally.

and sam's old friend returns for a cameo so i guess she can tweet she's OFFICIALLY IN Cobra Kai S4.

so if you've been enjoying it, you should enjoy this. but there are some real eye-rolling things that are just a part of these streaming shows now. writers just don't know what to do with all this time they're given because they're just not all that creative.

oh, and there are some great jokes courtesy of johnny on what he thinks of ...being awake culture.

:D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

I’m skipping your post as it’s long and potentially spoilery…

But I can’t wait to see modern day Silva. I expect him to now be CEO of a CO2 producing conglomerate/Republican member of the freedom caucus/Iraq war proponent/owner of a childrens’ karate dojo.

There is a little recency bias, but this may have been the best season.

I am still amazed how well this show works. It is almost a perfect blend of nostalgia and a well executed cheesy and fun program.

I had no clue that this was a thing. Saw the first one once and never had a desire to watch anything related.

The original movie came out at the perfect time for me as I was at an age similar to the characters. And it was really good. The next two movies sucked but oozed cheese and ended up being fun bad.

This series has recaptured the original magic. The plots are solid. And they have introduced the original cast at the right moments. The students are even well cast.

The sequels were definitely cash grabs but you have to give credit that some of those characters and elements are making “Cobra Kai” better and stronger as a series.

Besides my gripes about streaming show formulas I still do adore this series. But it sounds like S5 is already done and that makes me think they have plans for a S6. I don’t like that.

They have run out of nostalgia characters unless you go for the pottery girlfriend, the original tournament announcer or that main ref. So I agree this probably needs to be wrapped before it turns bad.

Edit: is Daniel’s mom still alive? In real life and the series…?

She was in the show this season and IIRC at the end of last season.

Tried to watch yesterday but turned it off after 20 min.

Maybe not in the mood but felt already like the shows got old.

Will give it a try another time.
