Think about it. They are 8 games behind the Sox right now. Ya gotta figure they'd be right there if they kept Sabathia. Maybe even in first. They traded away 16 starts from Sabathia. If they kept Sabathia and actually tried to be buyers by the trading deadline they could have won this thing. Maybe they wouldn't have even needed to be buyers.

Especially when you consider the Indians end the season with 3 against the Sox. They could have had Lee and Sabathia for that series. Indians would have a pretty good chance in any playoff series. Lee & Sabathia in a 5 or 7 game series would be tough to beat.

Oh well. They did give up so it doesn't matter. But they've played some good ball recently. Just something that crossed my mind.

Never trust September statistics from players who are out of playoff contention (or August in the Indians case).

That was a standard for the Jerry Manual-led White Sox.

Maybe so Dolphin. But you can't tell me that Sabathia wouldn't, at least, have got them to 84 wins right now. They currently have 78. If they had 84, right now, the last series against the Sox would matter to the Indians. The division would be there for the Indians.

What could they have done? In June, they were battling KC for last place and for a while I think, they were a game or 2 behind the Royals.

I understand. They had to trade him. It was the right more at the time. They were bad and realized they couldn't sign him.

I guess I'm saying be thankful that C.C Sabathia disn't sign with the Indians that year or the year prior. They were trying to sign him.

Had they signed him they wouldn't have traded him. If they don't trade him the Sox have their hands full with 2 teams right now.

It was just a random thought. I'm just glad the Indians were forced to quit this season. If they were just a .500 team, at the time of the trade, I'll bet the Indians don't trade him. They weren't. I beleive they were 10 games under at the time they traded him.

I'll attribute your shit thread to being overly excited over the Twins series.

This isn't a "shit thread". I've had much worse "thread starters" in my career.

I saw where the Indians are now 79-78. Thats actually pretty impressive when you look at where they were at the time they traded C.C. Sabbathia and then Casey Blake. When you look at Lee, Carmona and the kid Scott Lewis that will pitch Friday VS the Sox, they have some pretty good pitchers . Add a couple pieces in free agency and this could be a team that bounces back to be pretty tough next year.
